blue smoke and rough powerband after head job

If all the other cylinders test good for a compression test or leak down test then I would guess it was the inner front cover for sure. You will never know if you dont take it apart. If they said they didnt machine down the top of the inner front cover then that has to be it. That shop is...

blue smoke and rough powerband after head job

^^^ Yea your exactly right ^^^ I didnt think about that. The Machine shop did that to my motor too but caught it before I assembled it. There are 2 timing covers the outside (forward one) and the inside (aft one) the aft cover is directly on the front of the block. It needs to be...

    Milo's Booster Seat...

You waste no time at all. I got the electronic notification from FedEX that your brakes were delivered and you had already posted photos of them in this build thread. Thanks for taking the time to weigh them, I cant seem to find the time to get the parts on a scale myself. I didnt...

    REBAR ADJUSTMENT

My bad, I dont know what I was thinking! It was just the first thing that came to mind when I thought of "bar" and "adjustment" in the same sentence.

    My Supra's death is near......

I cant comment on anything else but yea never leave a head torqued to factory specs (52-57 I cant remember exactly) I have installed dozens and dozens of heads on different motors and still have yet to see a lower torque value on a head bolt. If you got ARP studs there should be...

flyjum: Yea same here, LOL. Not a BHG but yea they were lax as hell. The didnt check anything. Hell one of my friends passed with no air filter at all on a 1JZ big single turbo in a Lexus SC300, My Z car passed and they opened the hood and didnt do a thing and shut it. I just laughed...

    REBAR ADJUSTMENT

Its a concrete reinforcement medium here in the US in Mexico they use rebar for very creative repairs on cars and trucks.:icon_bigg OK, enough with the laughs, Im pretty sure the answer is NO, the SWAY bars are not adjustable from the factory. I have seen people sell what they advertise as...

    ebay turbo manifold intercooler kit

Yea post photos ASAP. BTW Adjuster is right about the AR ratio but I would even recommend going with an "O" trim they have about 2.3 inch turbine exducer dia and a "P" trim is just over 2.5 inch dia exducer. The decrease in diameter will make all the difference in the world in SOTP...

blue smoke and rough powerband after head job

I skimmed real fast but what struck me funny was this. If they did the block, did they remove the motor form the vehicle? Did they remove the pistons form the block? I know a thousand people will disagree with me but you dont NEED to deck the block to do a MHG and they you definately dont...

car wont start in freezing temps ONLY

My car has been doing a similar thing the last two mornings. I had to leave it outside for the first time since it became a daily driver. The temps got down into the 40's (coldest its been this year) and it had a little problem staying running for the first 30-50 seconds. It also took a few...

    Tell me it aint so....

You know the whole job isnt that expensive if you do it yourself. It just takes time and patients. Provided nothing is corroded thru. Safest way is to pull the harness off at the ECU then yank the whole motor and then you can do main bearings at the same time. I to know how you...

GASKET question "not a head gasket dont worry" lol

14mm is pretty close to 9/16inch. A standard SAE 3/8-16 nut and bolt usually has a 9/16" hex head

Ways to cure 7M oiling issues

I noticed right after I posted and IJ alerted me to the fact that the ID of the tube is the exact same inside diameter, but if your changing it all I can see how gains could be made. Edit: Finally got around to checking my RX7 oil cooler, and sure enough it "IS" thermostatically controlled.

Ways to cure 7M oiling issues

Dude, I knew you were crazy!!! But he's right too, check his out. Notice the lip on the inside of this compression fitting leading into the block up to the oil filter inlet. If I understood you correct, "Adjuster" this is the hole in the block to the right of the fitting in my hand. The...

Ways to cure 7M oiling issues

Yep I have run that same cooler on other turbo vehicles for over 10 years and was told that was a thermostat bypass too. I will be taking mine apart shortly to confirm also. Never the less it has always served me well.

    Tell me it aint so....

OMG in 20 posts the only 3 guys to get it are Johnathan and skim and the original poster. ITS A BHG 100% You dont have to have a milkshake in you oil cap or oil in your coolant. Most of the head gasket failures are from 5 or 6 blowing the firing ring into the water jacket on the exhaust...
