Ok here's the deal, I searched and got some good info but really just need a little more.
I have put full turbo electronics on my NA, so new to me is the ECU and harness. The rest of the components came of my 87 parts car that had a BHG but would run, although badly.
I have tested all the...
I have been gathering all the bits and pieces for a while and I have a week off work so it is finally time to get this done. I am looking forward to the high compression turbo feeling.
I plan on keeping it at low boost for a while until I see what is going on. Then I may crank it up when I...
Here is the organ donor that gave me the R-154 and most of the electronics, it's an 87 so I had to find an 89 ecu and harness as well. Also have a nice longblock to rebuild for when I grenade the ge in the 89 :biglaugh:
Here's the plan, My trusty 89 NA is getting a real boost. I have owned this car for about 7 years and it used to be my daily driver a long time ago. It has been stock, 1/2NA-t and NA again with headers/intake throughout its life. Now its going to get Turbo electronics and an R-154...
Just like the title asks, I am drilling/tapping a second KS on an NA block that will have turbo electronics running it. I don't have any access right now to measure one and need to buy the correct drill bit and tap.....
Anybody happen to know the size? IJ you know this right!
You get plenty of fuel with a stock system, good enough for most mods you are likely to do to your NA. Lex/550's is too much fuel for an NA. Unless it is an absolute monster built/stroked etc 7M.
As far as spray there are people that do it and get results but I think the main rule would be to...
I think if you are looking for new ones you might have a problem. The set of doug thorleys I have fit my mkiii fine. I did modify the bottom of one of the runners to give better clearance from the ground and the x-member but they fit good. Great upgrade for the NA and although they are hard to...
Best performance mod by far is my headers and exhaust. Had a small gain from removing the airbox and using a K&N air filter, no noticeable gain in power but smoother running from a set of MSD plug wires, but nice increase in throttle response and upper rpm power with the doug thorley headers and...
Alright, good points guys. New bearings it is. Just as well I live about 5 miles from Jay Marks Toyota here in Houston. I will run up there when I know the sizes as I think the toyota bearings are the way to go.
Here's the deal,
I have a GTE that I got from a BHG parts car. It was rebuilt no more than 2000 miles ago, new crank, pistons and bearings etc. Problem is it was rebuilt by retards. For example it has a nice new HK$ stopper MHG but they did NO prep to either the block or the head. So I am...
Thanks guys, CPS it was, wiring was toast where it runs over the head. Spliced new wires in and it ran great until the dreaded BHG hit!!!!!!! Motor was supposed to be rebuilt with a greddy MHG but I'm guessing it wasn't prepped right. It's hooked up to the hoist now and it will be on the engine...
Just got a great deal on an 87 turbo. Fresh rebuild, new crank pistons rods bearings, rebuilt head and ct-26, 1.2 mm MHG etc.
Great deal but its not running, it will turn over and fire (run) for about 5-10 seconds then quit. When it is running it sounds fine.
Here's what I've checked, all...
Got mine yesterday, just as everyone has said it is a nice setup. 5 minutes with the dremel and it fits together.
But, the flange on my elbow that mates with the turbo is very warped. Installed it on my turbo and it is bowed so much that I can wiggle the gasket between the surfaces at the top...
Cool, thanks and I will keep an eye on this thread for your answer when you put the pan on. I have heard of guys using the hole as it is, but I already have SS braided lines with the -10 end so I was planning on just enlarging the oil cooler hole to suit. I know some guys have been OK but others...
Hey JT87NA I was planning on using the same position for my oil return, but IJ brings up a good point. My motor is still assembled so I can't check but could you let me know when you put your pan on if the old oil return hole lines up with a main or not???
Thanks.
