If you end up taking that piston out, just hang it up somewhere. lol. People will ask if it's new. I can't help but sort of chuckle when I see that. I don't even think my new ones from Toyota looked that clean. :)
+1 to Nick M. The dissemination of factually incorrect information can take away from those who aspire to learn something from well documented builds/rebuilds, like yours.
A properly tuned car that operates within the limitations of a stock head gasket should live a long healthy life. I...
Well, went by the painter's today. Should be picking up the car tomorrow. Here's some pics I took while I was there. All with my iPhone, so nothing fantastically clear. :)
He said he's going to spend most of tonight finishing up the...
The do-hickey on the left is the "sensor" or "switch" (for lack of a better word) that snaps around the back side of the key lock assembly to disarm/arm TDS when you unlock/lock the door. I can't find a good picture of it in the TSRM or EPC off hand, if I find one, I'll post it. The other...
It's under the EPC in the Electrical Group 8714 Heating & Air Conditioning - Cooler Unit(8808-9305)MA70..LHD.

Hope this helps.
Not sure if it's a geographic thing, but down here (Greater New Orleans Area) most of the turbo cars we find are targa or sunroofs. Many of them are *fully* loaded with all the options (auto, leather, TEMS, ABS, etc... the works). Haven't run across too many turbo hard tops, I believe there's 1...
Same experience here. Might kill it quickly, or very slowly. Driving on the rod knock also increases the chances that the components of the knocking engine will be even more useless. Not sure if your plans include using that knocking engine as a core for a rebuild, just something to keep in mind.
Except that color was only available in 91.
Good point. Didn't even think about that. Long days at the office seem to suck Supra knowledge out of me. :) I suppose there's still a shot the car could be an '88, but the same 3H1 color code would apply. Still waiting on the owner of the blue car...
I think I found what you're referring to: http://www.toyotareference.com/#SU
3H1 is "Red Pearl" and appears to be an 86.5-88 color, 3H2 is "Maroon Metallic" and appears to be an 86.5 only color. I checked out the sales brochures he has on-line there and "Red Pearl" and "Maroon Metallic" show...
I'm almost positive it's 3H1, but I'll look into it. I forgot who owns that car, that must have been a "mini supra meet" at that guy's house. I've put in a call to the guy who owns the blue car in the pic, waiting to hear back.
That's actually a friend of mine's house. I cannot remember what year that car was, but I'd venture to say it's 3H1 "Red Pearl Mica" according to PPG or just "Red Pearl" according to the Toyota sales brochure. It's an 86.5-88 color only IIRC. I can probably find out 100% if you're dying to know.
I can imagine this was quite an undertaking. Would love to see up close pictures of this. Maybe the owner will chime in.
I remember the Dean Marcum targa bars, kinda regret not buying a set back then. My 90T should be back from paint this week, I'll be exploring the structural foam in the cross...
You'll be fine with the FIPK. Definitely leave it parked till the filter shows up. Want to preserve that 300 mile engine. :) Looks like you got some toys under the hood, should be a fun ride.
Welcome to the forums. :)
Unfortunately your included picture does not really assist us in identifying if what we think your question is really what you're asking. Since you've openly admitted to not knowing much about the car, or any cars, are you sure it's a Lexus AFM?
If it is either a stock or a Lexus AFM there...
If you peaked 16-20V at some point, you definitely have another problem besides a blown fuseable link. Changing the link to restore power is treating a symptom, not a problem. I would definitely be careful of anything causing those sorts of spikes in the electrical system of the car, especially...
Aah, I remember my first experience of targa "wobble." Hell, I actually thought something was wrong when I sped out of my apartment complex with the roof out. The most noticeable thing to me is that the windshield/a-pillars "wobbles" left and right across the horizontal axis of the car...
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the part number is 87138-24030 for a new blower motor resistor, and it's in the sub $30 price range from Watson (or whatever dealer). You can call the dealer and ask for the blower motor resistor I had this saved in a text file from some time ago: 87138-24030...
I'm with Rennat on this. Sell the MKIV side mount and move onto a nice FMIC kit. The FMIC kit was probably one of my favorite purchases for my MKIII in it's prime. It's either that or the EBC that brought me the most immediaite joy. By the time you fabricate what you need to get the MKIV one in...
Not yet. I think I'll keep my .57 trimmed 7M until I break it. Hopefully I won't break it till your 2JZ NA->T 7M Electronics conversion is done. I considering that route. :) I handed the painter a gallon of primer and other materials today to get started. I'm excited. I expect I'll have some...
