One change in gears is all it takes to completly destroy a turbo. ;) Anywho, find the oil leak, because you may have roasted your turbo if there isnt enough oil in it. Please for you turbos sake NEVER run it again without the bov/bypass valve. There is another way to test the bov, blowing air...

So you ran the car without having anything connected to relieve the pressure??

Is the bottom coupler that attaches to the turbo attached with a clamp on it? I know my BOV clamp cam loose and would cause a nice POP then hiss really bad. And I could only make -5 vac.

Go with a Holset HY35.

Id say build the rotary....but if you cant afford to pay 500 for it up front, why waste your time. Try and sell it for 1000 at least to make a profit.

Ive looked for over an hour to find a HY35 turbo......I havent found one yet. Are they that hard to find?

This will get locked quick..... Anywho, if it was on stock torque then that is the answer. Stock torque is 56 ft lbs when it SHOULD be 72 to 80. So if you ran it hard during the test drive on a head that wasnt properly tightened then it blew the hg.....
