Someone who's got these on should make a template and scan it in so people can print it and test fit it inside their wheels.
Like this.
You just basically cut a piece of cardboard till it fits tight around the caliper and flat on the rotor hub face (wheels spacers OFF), then trace it...
I would get a set of the Ronnie K (I think that's who makes them) medium hardness rear subframe bushings and SKIP the solid ones. I have solid ones in mine and they transmit an ANNOYING amount of driveline noise from the trans and rear diff, and I am very tolerant of noisy performance cars. My...
From what I've heard of those they are not stout motors to modify. The head gaskets are problematic if I am thinking of the correct Toyota diesel engine.
If it could be modified like people do with the diesel mercedes engines it would be worthwhile. If you could achieve, say, 250hp and 500 or...
It's been years since I did my swap. I don't think I have any of the photos anymore, but I do remember that I used the factory 1987 TEWD to find the correct wire color for the speed signal coming from the cluster to the body plugs behind the glove box, and I intercepted it there and repinned it...
Correct it will eliminate the speed cut, but it will also retard the timing and block overdrive as a precaution to protect the automatic trans. So it's a win/lose situation. On my car the timing retard was causing it to idle low, although given some time it will correct that with the idle speed...
I don't text sorry.
The speed sensor in the cluster will provide that signal without needing the extra speed sensor in the trans. You need to repin some wires at the body plug to get the signal where it needs to be is all.
The speed sensor in the gauge cluster will provide a good signal for the ECU (trans ecu is part of the soarer engine ecu of course) and ABS. You just need to tap into it.
The Soarer ECU won't idle properly without that speed signal either. I used an auto trans soarer 1JZ in my 87' with a...
I can think of a few parts...
The very unique white nylon retainer clips that hold the upper strip of rear hatch glass trim in place, and the similar clips on the lower rear glass trim. Both have plastic "spring" legs that snap off when the clips are aged. Almost all of mine are broken. I'm...
I chased many many squeaks on my car and every time I thought it was a spring it was something else. With stuff like this you are just going to have to take things apart till you find what's broken.
Plastic parts are the number one culprit, they shrink and crack as they age. Many times the felt...
Here's a random update to mine. I think it's been on the road 5 or 6 years now, with a slowly decaying flat black paint job. Well, not anymore. Also updated the suspension to a set of Tein Street Advance, GSP sways, and put the full interior back in place. Pretty damn happy with the car lately.
Update on this... I ordered a pair of "New aftermarket" cam sensors from an ebay seller called tom_and_joy and what I got was two sensors sealed in plastic pouches. Open them up and find two used and dirty OEM sensors. Couldn't have been returns because they were in pouches closed with tamper...
I had the same problem with a starter. I suspect there's a casting that's very similar to the one we need but is just slightly different enough to cause binding. I ended up rebuilding my original myself.
422hp, 421ft-lbs
Some more boost and tuning on the same setup as last time. 17psi this time. I added a cold air box on the filter and re-did the exhaust piping a bit to remove some poor welding from last time that was globbed inside the pipe. Damn those stock cams though, shutting down the...
It's condensate from whatever contaminates blew into the car. Nothing you can do but clean it off. I find a microfiber towel works well, dry.
I seem to get a lot more of that gunk during the summer when it rains a lot and I drive with the windows open a lot and with the defroster on max fan (I...
I gutted the switch housing and filled the switch holes in with epoxy backed by tape, sanded it flush, and then vinyl wrapped it to make a blank-out plate.
I'm interested in how these turn out installed. In the past few years people put their elbows through both of my door cards and my dash has started to crack. I really want to do something about it because it's making me feel like I drive a POS now with tape covering the sharp edges on the door...
Do these have independent height and spring preload adjustment or is it combined?
Also how high do they go? I'd like to get a little lower than stock but not as low as I am now on these lowering springs. I feel like the car's not as stable as it should be because the front arms are angled up...
Figured I'd just post this up to help out anyone who might search on this in the future.
My power door locks stopped working, but only when I hit the electric button to lock them. Unlock worked fine and so did manually flipping them. They started to quit only on hot days and then they...
