Things to change while the motor is OUT of the car.

Thanks Compton74, exactly what I was looking for. I think 847245A was what I was thinking about. Sure about the fuel filter? Had a MK2 a while ago and it was in the lower engine bay, my Avalon had it in the engine bay too, on the opposite side though. I'll take your word for it.. probably won't...

Any problems with swapping a pre-89 JDM 7mgte into a 91 USDM previously 7mgte Supra?

Yeah I just realized with the throttle cable, I will just be able to use the intake mani and TB off the old USDM setup. I'm just swapping the longblock, nothing past the head.

Things to change while the motor is OUT of the car.

Alright so I'm swapping out my '91 Turbo R154's bottom end with a spun bearing with a known working JDM bottom end (6m crank) which I am going to freshen up. I want to take this motor out once, do crap right, put it back in and not have to worry about the hard to get to stuff for a while if...

Any problems with swapping a pre-89 JDM 7mgte into a 91 USDM previously 7mgte Supra?

Good point about the throttle cable... hmm think Ill need to mod or extend it? Yeah I'm going to leave the EGR in I just didn't know if the block or whatever even has a place for it. I remember reading a thing on SF about dropping EGTs by a couple hundred degrees with EGR in vs not in. I'm from...

Any problems with swapping a pre-89 JDM 7mgte into a 91 USDM previously 7mgte Supra?

Just like the title says, think there would be any potential problems swapping in a pre-89 (6m crank) JDM 7mgte into a '91 USDM R154 Turbo? The idea is that I'll be replacing a 7mgte with rod knock with a JDM 7mgte longblock (in this case everything from the crank to the cams but without...

Electronic boost controller - what solenoid can I use?

So I'm thinking of buying a Blitz SBC Spec R electronic boost controller for pretty cheap. Only downside is that the solenoid and harness doesn't come with it, it's just the head unit. There is a complete harness coming off the head unit but the harness after that (which I believe goes to the...

Rod bearings - Specific Toyota sized or Clevite?

So here's my question. From searching around I've found that you add the number at the bottom of the connecting rod and the number on the crank and depending on that number (the sum of the other two), you order that bearing from Toyota and it's supposed to be sized specifically for that...

    Just picked up a '90 Turbo 5spd :p

Yea I'll probably find out on the injectors when I pull it apart. There was no rod cap in the pan so I think that's what went through the block. There's a little less then a golf ball sized hole in the driver's side of the block, to the left and lower from the motor mount. The hole is right at...

    Just picked up a '90 Turbo 5spd :p

Thanks guys I like it so far  Doesn't have moldings anywhere, not sure if all MK3's came with molding or if it just had bodywork done to remove those but it doesn't have any side or back. Fixitman, do you have a link to that thread or the username of who started it? Looked through all the...

    Just picked up a '90 Turbo 5spd :p

Just thought I'd introduce myself, my names Jared and I'm from Vegas, doing school in Utah right now. A week or so ago I drove back to Vegas and picked up a car I've wanted for a while :icon_bigg 1990 Turbo 5 speed, 16x,000 miles and pretty decent shape with some good mods. Most everything...
