Just thought I'd introduce myself, my names Jared and I'm from Vegas, doing school in Utah right now. A week or so ago I drove back to Vegas and picked up a car I've wanted for a while :icon_bigg 1990 Turbo 5 speed, 16x,000 miles and pretty decent shape with some good mods. Most everything works except for a couple things and one cylinder lol ::toothless::, when we dropped the oil pan there was half a rod sitting at the bottom. Sucks but I knew the motor was messed up when I got it. Ill get more into the thrown rod in the Tech section later.

Anyway I'll definitely be around asking questions when the time comes for the rebuild. Thanks and Merry Christmas! :icon_bigg ::happy claus::

Thanks guys I like it so far  Doesn't have moldings anywhere, not sure if all MK3's came with molding or if it just had bodywork done to remove those but it doesn't have any side or back.

Fixitman, do you have a link to that thread or the username of who started it? Looked through all the build threads and didn't find it. I'm pretty curious what its got done to it, last owner didn't know much about it but I keep finding new mods lol. Just realized it's got a Lex AFM but not sure on the injectors until I pull it apart. Doesn't have BHG as far as I know. Yet .. :icon_eek: I'm wondering if it's maybe got studs and a MHG already.

Yea they all come with moldings bro. Yours is shaved. If it's got a lex AFM it's probably got 550's in it. Pull an injector check it out. Also, you sure that block is re-usable? Aren't there chunks missing?

Yea I'll probably find out on the injectors when I pull it apart. There was no rod cap in the pan so I think that's what went through the block. There's a little less then a golf ball sized hole in the driver's side of the block, to the left and lower from the motor mount. The hole is right at the bottom of the block. It actually bent the oil pan maybe a quarter of an inch down in one spot where the holes at, but that's the only damage to the block externally (haven't looked much in the actual crankcase). From looking at it, it doesn't look structurally insound from the hole, it's just letting oil out. As horrible as it sounds, I've heard JB weld works well as long as it's just a patch :aigo:. Not a good idea lol, definitely sketchy to patch a hole like that but I've heard it works and better then welding because the welds will crack unless you heat the block up and let it cool the right way when you weld.

Funny thing is, she starts right up and idles fine on 5 cylinders and no oil (last owner started it to put it on the trailer, I didn't know it had no oil or a fawked block when he did it :: angry ::) so I'm pretty hopeful. The crank journal for that cylinder looked ok when I looked at it from under the car so that's good.

Anyway sorry to put all this in the Introductions section, just clarifying.

Anyone know who's car this used to be or any info on it? Haven't found anything on here or Supraforums yet.
