    Headgasket job so far

Pistons, no. Piston rings, yes. http://www.driftmotion.com/7M-GTE-Ring-Set-Standard-Size-p/dm495.htm Keep in mind though, this would mean pulling the block. If you pull the block you should have it line-honed, polish the crank shaft, new crank main bearings, new rod bearings, machine the deck...

    3D Printed Supra Parts

Very Cool woggin! I have the MK3 text saved somewhere as a font. I think that would allow you to use it in SolidWorks and easily create those badges. Eventually I'll make one for my car with some clever name. 250 micron layers seems pretty good, but I'm not sure what typical layer height is...

    Headgasket job so far

That cylinder damage isn't ideal, but if you're on a tight budget I wouldn't necessarily pull the block just to hone/bore that out. Can you feel those scratches with a fingernail?

    3D Printed Supra Parts

I have! I tried a few parts. The plastic has an awesome, super fine finish, but there is a huge caveat.... One side will have the support dimples and they are very ugly and near impossible to blend in to the rest of the finish on smooth parts. It's nice because it allows a lot of detail, but...

    3D Printed Supra Parts

Hmm.... I could get the shape, but matching the OEM texture of polished plastic would require molded parts or some clever overlay. I'll keep it in mind though. I do love the feel of those factory switches.

    3D Printed Supra Parts

Wow. Holy crap. I had no idea you could get a functional printer for $220. That's... incredible. I thought the Dremel printer for a little under a grand was cheap. Jeez. I wouldn't expect the quality to be worthwhile, but for that little it'd be great for simple prototyping. Although, for me a...

    3D Printed Supra Parts

Cool! What printer do you have? Any idea on its limitations? I've been poking around at the various DIY options, but it still looks like the entry price for a system to make reliable, small features (<1mm) is a few $k. If nothing else though, it would be really neat to prototype quickly at...

Project Ookii Ao: Road to 500whp

Part 3: Progress is starting slow for a few reasons: 1. Work. 2. I'm prepping the 90 targa car for sale. 3. I'm prepping a few items for sale via my site. Once I sell the 90 things will really pick up speed though. For this video I installed a volt meter in the headlight washer area. It's a...

    Headgasket job so far

HANG ON. No Scotch Brite pads on an engine. Read below or google it. https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=563163 Use a gasket removal chemical and a scraper. No abrasives. That's great for the block. I wouldn't touch it if it's really less than 2.5 thou off...

    Headgasket job so far

I had a nice, long response posted on SF and literally minutes before I submitted it, the thread was locked. Maybe you'll get more help here. Below is a pic of the gasket with the blown seal areas pointed out in red, good sealing areas in blue. The blown areas aren't obvious to a first time...

    New motor smoking.

10:1 isn't very rich, all things considered. Certainly not enough to produce a noticeable amount of smoke. Blue smoke is an indication of oil burning. I'd do a compression test (always a good diagnostic test) and then check the intercooler piping for oil residue. Those are relatively easy tests...

    New motor smoking.

Your post is a little hard to understand. Some punctuation would help. If I follow correctly you had blue smoke one time one a hard acceleration in 2nd gear, up to 5000 rpm. Normal driving produces no smoke. Is that right? How rich does it run? Give us AFR #s.

    Coolant question

Personally, I think your choices for a known-quality unit are OEM ($$$$) or aftermarket aluminum (multi-core). The aftermarket ones look nice, but create a potential failure point by putting the radiator/shroud a lot closer to the spinning fan.

    New engine boost issue

Nice, good news. Thanks for the update. I didn't think the stock CT could hit fuel cut without a failure or modification and this is a data point in favor of that train of thought.

    How to decrease boost

Lowering boost is really simple, unless the turbo can outflow the wastegate opening (which happens on a modified CT26). For most CT26's, you just install a weaker spring into the wastegate actuator (or use a worn out one from a used turbo). Boost controllers can only increase pressure, not...

That would be one hell of an annoying miss during assembly! Let us know what you find out.

    New engine boost issue

It's not normal to hit fuel cut without a boost controller in my experience. Are you hitting 12 PSI without a boost controller?

I keep going back in time! Finally found a mkiii--meet crimson tide

Awesome stuff, Ken. Well written and well documented. Looking forward to all that's ahead! You're setting the build-thread bar a little higher - not many super clean mk3 builds going on anymore it seems. Maybe this is the start of a resurgence! It's really neat to see so much care go into a...
