I dont know the condition of my thermostat. Ill be checking it out. Any clues on how to figure out if it went bad?
Maybe it could be a bad clutch fan? idk
I haven't done a proper coolant bleed down. I checked the cygnus website and looked at the mkiii section and found a nice little tutorial...
I rented a block tester kit from auto zone to check for any exhaust gases in the coolant. The instructions said that if the fluid turns yellow then there is a leaking head gasket. I performed the test and the liquid did not turn yellow.
But im still unsure if i have a bhg. Whenever i would...
thanks for the help guys. its going to be hard to finding the right color center piece

My 1989 supra came fitted with a 7mge engine. I noticed that the valve covers were black with red lettering. It looks stock to me. Ive only seen 7mge engines with gray valve covers until i saw mine. Did Toyota ever produce 7mge engines with a black color scheme?
I really appreciate all the input guys! I haven't done any tests to confirm a BHG, but what i have done, as Moy suggested, is dropped a few samples of its oil onto the hot exhaust manifold. No bubbling was seen or heard, just saw smoke. Furthermore, there is none of that milky white crap under...
I was driving my supra few hours ago when i noticed my temp gauge slowly rising. I pull over, pop open the hood and saw steam coming out of the coolant reservoir. I also noticed this brown liquid pouring out as well. Can this possibly be a mixture of oil and antifreeze:1zhelp:!? anyway, I shut...
thanks for the help guys, i got the leak fixed, but the car doesn't feel the same, and seems to have a slow response. I really do suspect a bhg now! Hopefully it wont have to come to down to machining the engine..
I took the car to my mechanic because i really needed it to drive to work. He replaced the egr gasket, but it dint really do much, the car feels slower, and leaks every time after driving. Im going to do a compression test hopefully tomorrow.
It didnt need any oil, and yes it leaks coolant...
yea the engine starts but turns off immediately.
This morning the engine actually started, but after a little warming up smoke still came out from the engine when i pushed the throttle. My only guess is an exhaust leak. any ideas? thanks
hey guys
one day after work and wanted to see how fast my na supra would go. I reached 115. I later started to notice the temp gauge was pretty high, and later went into the red zone. When i stopped the vehicle, smoke came out and on my way home the engine gave out. I bought a quart of motor...
thanks for all the help guys!
