I dunno about the firewall part either. But for the mounts, if you put the engine and transmission in from the top, the oil pan just barely dosen't clear. I think you avoided the delima by using a lift, and putting the tranny in from under the car if I remember correct.
lol, those pre-89 mounts are a real "hang up". It took me a week before I finally decided to do a little hammer work...
Looks good btw, Seems you're going the exact same rout as I am with the megasquirt 3 and the holset turbo... gimmie a call if you run into any hangups, as I'm already on the...
for those that are clueless, the sensor on both afm's are the same. The housing from the lexus is 25% larger which would allow 25% more air which is very bad. It will lean out your engine and you'll have a blown motor in no time.
if you were to use smaller turbos there's a spot where you could put them just in front of the differential so you wouldn't have to go choppin the chassis.
It was a thought I had while rich at daft did my exaust. That plus a supercharger to wind up the bottom end real good.
my point was to ditch the remote idea and stick it up front like everyone else.
aside from that, yeah, you're going to be dissapointed with the remote setup. I've had a couple of friends do this with lsx motors and they've all given up on the idea.

post #246 ihiyru posted pics of his holset 1uz project.
I'd just pot the holset in the same place or where the battery sits like I'm going to do.
nice. I didn't go that far lol, The point I was trying to get at is that you should check, just don't throw out a head before taking a cut on it to find out if it's just annealed on the outside, or annealed throughout.
btw, the table on your mill looks super clean!!!
mmmmmmmm...... I've got my own opinion on that. The material the head is made of becomes non-homogenous from the heat leaving the upper layers soft while leaving the inner layers still in their original state.
I've hardness tested a head that was supposed to be junk (annealed) before and after...
please do post them up!!!
and btw, I did my entire swap including the car for a little over 1300$ and my friend james did his cressida for under $1000. So still way cheaper than a 2j swap.
I also plan on using a hx40 I have laying around the shop that I plan on using, and I'll have rich at...
my big kick is that it's not neccessarilly the hp and tq potential out of the box, but what can be done, and has been done with a stock 1uz block. With it's 6 bolt main setup and beefy internals (we're talkin early blocks here) It can handle anything you could throw at a 2j and more. And for a...
