Can the ABS be removed like this? should I?

The master cylinder connects to the proportioning valve with 2 lines, that then goes to the ABS actuator, which then goes to the 2 front calipers and a single line to the rear. If you want to remove ABS you need the lines from the proportioning valve to each of the front calipers (1 small line...

    Tail Light Failure Lamp

It's either the brake bulbs, sockets, or wiring. It also happens if the spoiler is changed from a pre-89 to 89+ or vice-versa. It can also happen if the wrong wattage bulbs are used. Jeff

Building a Widebody Quicksilver JZA80 (Now with New pics!)

Semi-rare, but not extremely. You can find them for sale from time to time, and a few cars came with them... I dunno how to define their rarity other than that a lot of people seem to know someone who has had one at some point, haha. Only USA cars had them also, so I haven't really seen many up...

Building a Widebody Quicksilver JZA80 (Now with New pics!)

Well, things have been moving along quite slowly as Jason is out of town frequently, and I am lazy. That being said, the glass, spoiler, bumper, tail lights and emblems are on the car, so at least it's something to see! Sorry for the crappy pics. The car is now dusty and I forgot my camera...

Steering wheel Boss with cruise control

86-88 has 3-buttons, 89-92 has 4-buttons. If you have a newer one and use a 3-button setup on the steering wheel, you'll need to wire in another momentary switch somewhere for "Cruise Main" On/Off. Jeff

    2J Fuel pump wiring

Both the MK3 and MK4 use the main engine computer to control when the fuel pump is on. The "Fuel Control Computer" in the MK4 is a glorified relay, nothing more. It just combines the circuit opening relay and fuel pump control relay that the MK3 has into 1 box. There is no logic in it...

Are all wide band sensors consumable?

Modern cars are always comparing the inputs of the 2 sensors to detect catalyst irregularities and problems with the sensors. You can monitor the O2 sensor output using the plug-in diagnostic tester as well. Modern ECU's monitor so much stuff and give very specific error codes to specific...

Are all wide band sensors consumable?

Every Toyota on the road these days has at least 1 wideband and 1 narrowband sensor, most have 2 of each. They definitely do wear out over time, and especially when you are monitoring their output you may notice changes over time. They should last quite some time though. Most aftermarket...

    na block, gte head?

No, that will not work, you will need to get oiling from the intake side of the block, oil pressure port or similar. Also do not forget that with a GTE head you are going to need a crank position sensor, which may require a new oil pump, sensor, and timing pulley. Jeff

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

4.30:1 gearing needs 35:10 speedo gearing on the A70. Speedometer Drive Gear: 33481-14080 (10 tooth - Same as 87-88 Turbo) Speedometer Driven Gear: 33403-19235 (35 tooth - Same as All N/A) Jeff

Speedometer showing much to high after W58-R154 swap..

Putting the Turbo rear end in will fix it, however you need the correct turbo rear end to match it. I'd suggest pulling out the speedometer driven gear and on the end of it, it will have 2 numbers stamped into it. 33 & 10 or 32 & 10 means you need a 3.91:1, 33 & 11 means you need a 3.73:1. I...

    1991 stock system question

If the car didn't have the CD player, it wouldn't have had an amp under the seat. Even if it did when it was new though, the harness is separate from everything else, so pulling it out is quite easy. At this point, with an aftermarket stereo and no harness, it's impossible to tell what the car...

    2jzge

No, the heads are very different, as is the oil pump. The GTE uses a vastly different ignition control system, involving 2 single-tooth cam position sensors and a 12-tooth crank position sensor. The GE has a distributor and spark plug wires. The intake and exhaust port spacing is completely...
