Resizing rods after installing ARP rod bolts

Will do. I know the SBC rods are pretty tough, but then again that was oldschool American build quality back in the day.

Resizing rods after installing ARP rod bolts

Yeah I don't want that. Actually, how strong are the stock rods with ARP bolts? What is the accepted power limit? Actually, it would be really cool to have a list of the stock parts and their power capabilities stickied somewhere. That way ignorant people like me would know what does and does...

Resizing rods after installing ARP rod bolts

Yeah I understand. This isn't just a stock build either. I'm trying to get 450 HP out of it, so I can't take short cuts. I guess I don't want to spend money where I don't need to spend it especially if it could be better used somewhere else. Thanks for the advice though. I needed someone to tell...

Resizing rods after installing ARP rod bolts

Yeah. Resizing them isn't the big deal for me. The big deal is the fact that the engine was just rebuilt and hasn't even finished the break in and now most of that work would be thrown away to replace bearings that have maybe 100 miles on them. Well, you're right. I've built 220hp aircooled vw...

Resizing rods after installing ARP rod bolts

Hey, like the title says, I was wondering why you have to resize the rods when ARP bolts are installed. My thought process is, if they are the correct size to begin with, how does changing the bolts out throw the size out of whack enough to need to be resized? I'm pulling my motor with less than...

    Skagit county supra owners

Awesome. Thanks a bunch! I am gonna install ARP rod bolts in the motor and want to make sure they do a good job resizing the rods.

    Skagit county supra owners

Hey, I don't mean to hijack my own thread, but is there a good machine shop around skagit county for the 7m? They have F&S machine shop in Oak Harbor, but I have heard nothing but bad things from them since the son took over. I hear NAPA in Mt Vernon is a good place. Just wondering what other...

    Skagit county supra owners

Another thing that could be done is go to a car show. There is one in Oak Harbor around the beginning of August. I've seen what they have for the import car category as well, and it is pretty terrible. A couple beat up old mini's, a 1st gen rx7 with a blower (bodywork untouched though), a...

    Skagit county supra owners

I wish I could go, mine is in the process of getting pulled apart. The wife told me this weekend that if I'm going to build this "POS" I might as well go all the way and do a ground up resto on it. At least it won't be a POS, just an 80's car. But yeah, I do know Tim. He works at the Auto Hobby...

    Skagit county supra owners

Oh sweet! What all do you have done to it? Is it built mainly for drifting or do you do regular driving as well with it?

    Skagit county supra owners

Sweet. I'm trying to fix mine up to show it. I want to make it a nice weekend racer/fair weather car. Still debating what direction I want to go with the turbo though, like if I want to stick with ct26 or make the change to t4.

    Skagit county supra owners

Oh sweet! I'm working on building my 87 turbo targa and would like to get involved with the other supra people. There are only Honda's around here and for the most part they are riced out.

    Skagit county supra owners

Hey, I was just wondering if there are any supra owners around the skagit/island county area. I don't really know anyone around here and would be down with getting to know some of the people on here.

    The UGLY Supra Thread...

Here is mine. In my defense, it is my parts car. When I owned it before, it was at least complete and the same color...:icon_bigg

1987 Supra Turbo Build * Running first factory LHD Digidash Swap*

Hey thanks jason! My optical sensor arrived in the mail today so next week I should have it installed. Hopefully the snow should be good for snowmobiling this weekend! Edit: made my 50th post. Sweet!

    Megasquirt thread: Megasquirt and You

I agree. You can buy per made harnesses from diyautotune.com for a reasonable price and then just hook your own sensors to them. Tuner studio even has the cal files for the Toyota coolant temp sensors. For intake temp on mine though, I'm using an iat sensor from a late 90s caddy with the north...

    Megasquirt thread: Megasquirt and You

You can't run edis with cps. Edis is meant to read a 36-1 wheel driven off the crank. Cps is 24 teeth and driven at can speed. Edis will work with ms1. To run edis, you need to mount a ford trigger wheel on the harmonic balancer and the vr sensor as well. Megasquirt manual will talk about how to...

    Megasquirt thread: Megasquirt and You

Actually you bring up a good point. I know the stock fuel injection system fired the injectors in pairs. Is there really that big of an advantage to full sequential firing? I didn't think it really made THAT big of a difference firing in batch vs sequential. But I could also be wrong.

You don't need the full on ms3 for the 2 step. Just ms2-extra.
