Hello Supramania.
I have been driving my swapped car for almost three years now and for some reason over the last year only the speed sensor code, 42 has been thrown on my 1jz MT ECU.
Is there a way I can fool the computer to see a pulse? If so, does the signal come from the cluster or...
Guys, to follow up on this thread:

...the car is running well now. I fixed it probably a month after posting here. The problem was that the timing belt was one tooth off at the crank. Now that it's fixed it's...
Nope. Thanks for checking in.
I'm wondering if there is possibly a speed sensor that my truck doesn't have which would put the ECU in limp mode?
Just really taking shots in the dark at this point.
Are there any New England members that I could meet and plug in their ECU to rule this...
JZX7- thanks for the post. It sounds like a soft rev limit. More whoob-whoob than cracking 2 step or antilag. It's not exactly a 4k breakup but 3800 to 4000 rpm and not load related. I can free-rev the car in neutral to about 5k but it breaks up. While driving it only achieves 4k. I don't...
I tried to run the car today with the pigtail plugged in, then unplugged. It makes no difference. The car displays the same issues running in both configurations. Does this suggest anything in particular?
jzxseven, that's an interesting lead you just gave me with the brown wire. I do think it's getting 12v and I will check again tomorrow. What does grounding it do? I'm on my second ECU. The board is very clean and I did the caps already. Thanks for the help man!

It finally threw a code tonight. Four Blinks followed by a gap, then one. All blinks were the same short duration. Is that a 41?
41 is a TPS code. I tried to find the TPS pinout on the connector everywhere but couldn't find anything definitive.
Can someone reference me?
I installed a Sard...
I'll post more pics soon. I have a few but not too many good ones. I know that the timing belt is on right. I have double checked it and I also think that the truck is running too well to have a mechanical timing problem.
I feel like it's something dumb, like some connector that's not hooked...
Thanks a lot man. I really need like 5 minutes of an experienced member's time to sort out the 1jzgte specifics. This is my first Toyota powered build.

To put some closure to this thread- the ECU helped the rich condition and overall driveability. The old ECU had some bad acid damage on the board. The truck is nearly done but I'm facing a strange issue with not being able to rev over about 4000RPM. It's not load or boost dependant. AFRs are...
It's not a hard rev limit. Timing, as far as I can tell is fine. The car does a whub whub whub and sorta falls on it's face. I did the mechanical (belt) timing while the engine was out and the car runs great, good spool up good power without a hitch up to about 4000 rpm.
I was thinking maybe...
Here's what I've checked
Boost leak test
Gapped plugs to .028 then to .023 (no difference)
Using Walbro 255lph pump
TPS hasn't been touched although it could be a problem
Car idles fine/drives fine
Replaced caps on ECU
Car is a Manual with manual ECU
Plugs not fouled
Swapped map...
I have the same problem on a recent swap. My plugs are at .028 Any other suggestions? It's so close to being awesome....
I checked for boost leaks, new caps on the ECU.. idles well.. stock everything except for the intercooler.
Suggestions are appreciated.
Hi everyone. I'm going to try to make this as short as possible. I just finished a 1jzgte swap into a small truck. (pics later) The truck runs, starts fine but appears to run as if in limp mode. (very rich mixture)
I checked the caps on the ECU after searching. They were leaking. I replaced...
