does that mean my sensor has flogged out?

i've been through 2 in the last year now... the first one i can understand, that went for a good six months but it was clocked at 9oclock so moisture wasn't dripping off properly

this second one is mounted at 10 or 2 however you like to view it and lasted bout 4 weeks :(

This isn't really all that helpful, but have you tried contacting Zeitronix? I've found generally they/he know/s their/his stuff pretty well.

That being said I'm surprised that it went bad that quickly, I've been running one for maybe 3k miles/3-4 months without even a hiccup.

Are you positive all the power wiring is set up correctly and not for some reason coming loose?

I come from a land down under
Fouled sensor, sometimes you can bring em back to life by burning off the carbon with an Oxy torch taking care NOT to get it hot enough to glow....

They also die when dropped.

Last time that happened to me, the sensor was disconnected... But my ZT has been going strong for a year.

I had the same thing. The harness was plugged in about halfway, drove me crazy troubleshooting.

steam from bhg... sorry had to ;)

Where is the sensor located in the exhaust? If its not in the downpipe, maybe delay turning on the wideband for a couple minues after start.. on a cool day the exhaust will have condensation in it and will steam a bit.. that across the hot sensor (its internal heated) can kill it..

...A vertical position can get too hot in confined spaces, so we recommend at least 15 degrees from the vertical. The horizontal position can cause condensation to drip onto the sensor, so we recommend at least 10 degrees from the horizontal. ...

...We recommend placing the sensor around 1 m (40") from the closest exhaust valve...

suprra_girl - do talk with Zeitronix. He is very helpful and responds very quickly

yeah it sounds like you could have water buliding up on it after you shut down even though it's at 9.
are you at least 16 inches down the dp... I found i overheated my 02 sensor racing. so I'm going to move it futher down on this setup.

It reads 14.6 when unplugged, and when I plug it in, it reads 14.7

I've tried leaving the ignition on for 30 seconds to allow the element to warm up and get rid of any condensation, but this doesnt help. I went for a 200km drive last week, tried it when I first started the car, again when it was at full operating temp, then when I was well into the trip and everything was nice and hot, but still nothing, dead as a dodo.
The car is running rich, 13:1 @ cruise which drops to around 11:1 under acceleration - maybe its carboned up?
Has anyone else got a Zeitronix wideband? Does yours die as often as this one? Perhaps the sensor was bad from the word go?

I'm taking it out this weekend.

Dunno I use the bosch LC WB O2 with data logging

Can you show us what your Zeitronix shows up in its log?

Logs just show 14.6:1 constantly. No matter what the engine revs, temp or load.

I took the sensor out. It was dirty (black, sooty) mainly because I'm running quite rich.

I turn the ignition on - left it on for about 5 minutes, and the sensor never got hot, not even warm. So the heater part of the sensor isn't working.

Maybe the heater unit bombed out, stayed on all the time, overheating and destroying the sensor then eventually the heater unit itself?
