I found the plastic winder that the shaft goes through for the rear of my seat to go up and down had been broken so i've been going through the mission of repairing that, talk about effort required to fix one little plastic winder LOL

Mine just broke (same plastic winder, same location) and I was wondering how you fixed yours?

I thought about glueing it, but I didn't see how that could hold together.

I haven't checked, but I'm sure Toyota in their infinite wisdom doesn't sell the winder seperately (Jeff Lang: Please tell me I'm wrong).

I Don't want to buy the whole freekin mechanism if I don't have to.

i have many many seats :p
i got one from a spare
unfortunately according to cygnus epc they may not sell those as it's not in the diagram

My way of dissasembly:

undo screws in side of seat (where the recline lever is)
get small screwdriver & pop out the clip that holds the manual winder in (if yours is manual) pull off winder,
Pull up the recline lever and yank the crap out of it to get it off
Give the switch a little pull and it'll unclip from the switches underneath
Undo 2 10mm bolts on front side of seat on the seat tracks both sides
Undo 12mm nut on motor to release that side of shaft (use vice grips to hold the shaft while you undo these nuts)
Undo 12mm nut on other end of shaft
Pray your bush just falls off, i had to hammer mine off, it was there goooooood lol
Undo the 2 small phillps screws into the little white plate which holds the shaft steady & also acts as the stopper
That section is on a uni joint so just lever it around until you have it most of the way out of the motor
Undo 10mm bolt on front of seat just below motor
Undo 2 phillps screws holding the motor in place on bottom of seat, your motor should be moveable now
Being your plastic winder is broken you shouldn't have any problems then pulling the shaft out of the motor, you will need to lever against the seat track against the motor plate (where you took the 2 10mm bolts out of) to get the shaft out.
Hopefully your metal bushes aren't deformed.

Get new/2nd hand plastic winder, put in place
Put shaft through holes where your motor would normally be
Thread shaft into new winder as far as it will go
Lever against plate again
Put motor in place and screw up screws
Now place the shaft back into the motor meanwhile while still levering the plate if necessary
Gently insert the shaft (oh wow that one sounds rude huh lol)
Jiggle all about till it all slots back in nicely
(you don't need to be overly concerned with placement of the shaft as the motor only turns one way anyhow so theres no particular place it needs to be in)
Apply battery voltage to connector (two pin plug - l/w = positive, w/b = negative
Your switches should be still plugged in, if you unplugged em, plug it back in, just flick the switch quickly in one direction to see what way it will go, you need it to wind out slightly so you can get the 12mm nut back on the other end (motor side)
Do not do the 12mm nuts up uber tight, they just need to be nipped up
(don't forget your washer on the motor side & the bush to go back on the winder side)
Nip up nuts
Screw the little white plate back in place

Test drive the motor ;)
I can get another one of those winders out of a spare seat we have here, i'll need to check to make sure it's not broken tho

HTH :)
