I'm at the light the other day and when it turns green, this Chrysler Dynasty takes a hole shot. Screeching tires and all! Then it slows down once it hits the speed limit. I get up next to and look over and it's this old...ok...elderly gentlman gripping the wheel with both hands at 10 and 2, leaned way forward and going on his mary way.

I get to the next light and same thing...Grandpa took off like a mad man and screeched the tires!!!

So what is up with old people taking the hole shot at every stop light.

Anyone else ever notice this 'Elderly Phenomenon'?

I guess it's a good thing they don't drive MKIII's!!! :biglaugh:

I don't know guys, one of the best run's I've ever had was against an old man. Last summer, the girl I was with and I (in my supra) left an ice cream stand and were cruising down a large local highway when a guy in his 70's (we'll call him Joe) and his old lady pulled up in a flawless C3 corvette. Long story short, after a brief smile/nod/wave, Joe and I cat-and-moused it down the road for about 5 miles, blowing past traffic and passing each other the whole way. It ended at a light where I turned and he went straight after a series of "Nice Car!"s and the like.

I've gotta admit, my girl and I both had a blast, and we laughed our asses off to look over and see Joe short shifting his vette with his wife smiling at us while we're all doing 90 in a 45.

Good times. I hope I live long enough to be like that crazy old man.:biglaugh:

Hey, when every day could be your last, you don't have a lot of time to spend getting up to speed. Same goes with using the signal light.

My second race ever was back in 1985, me in my '77 280z and this guy who must have been at least 60 in a massive 6 liter '60's Mercedes. He beat me. : (

Damn you! My wife gets all pissy if I simply chirp the tires when taking off if the road is wet :3d_frown:

If I live to be old I'll be the old fart screwing with all the kids. Nothing funnier than getting beat by grandpa in a family car that looks fairly stock. :D If you're going to die, atleast die doing what you love.

Haha my uncle is in his 50's and is on the boards here. The other night I got an email from him saying how he wasted on a neon with his saab. Was pretty funny. I too will likely be the old man messing with the youngins if I make it to that age.

There is a guy around here, into his mid 70s. He comes out on the race nights in a c6z06 (headers + catback) smokes his pipe and bullshits. He has run some people before as well, winning obviously.

No one wants to go out with a tube in their neck and on life support. Everyone wants to go out in the ball of fire.
I wanna be remembered for "Yea, my grandpa died yesterday....flipped his Ferrari, was doing 150"

I don't know... I've seen old ladies do this also. I think it's like once you can order for the Sernior Citizen's menu you automitacally start taking the hole shot at every light.

But yeah, I plan on going out in a ball of flames. Either in my supra or by lighting a fart in the bra section at walmart! :biglaugh:
