do you guys think a 89 Supra targa top, with a 2JZ(single or stock twin) 5spd with a very nice suspension setup and upgraded brake system would be an even trade for an MKIV, NA, 5spd, targa?

my cars interior is very clean, outside is clean as well and i just bought some ASA AR2 wheels, BBS look a likes.

i'm thinkin of building it up in hopes to trade it with somebody for an MKIV and go out and buy a 2004 GTO 6spd. that way i have a nice fun car to drive while i work on my Supra.

or i was just gonna buy the GTO and keep my MK3 and work on it.

I'd never trade a 2JZ turbo car for an NA... anything.

Money wise they'd probably be close... but I don't like the look of the MKIV nearly enough to prefer a slow MKIV over a fast MKIII.

Why the hell would you want to trade a single turbo 2j Supra for a damn slow Celica(NA Supra)?

i was gonna buy a 2jz/6spd package on ebay for like 5k, then another 600 i guess for the lsd and driveshaft

it's a huge battle in my head. i love the look of both cars. both will give me the performance i want... it's just, you always ant what you don't have. but i guess it is a waste of money, 15k for looks. i love mk3's... other wise i wouldn't have bought another one after selling my 87 maroon 2jz. ahhhhhh... i suppose i could stick with my 89 for a while. i mean, you just don't see any cars out there with the look mk3's have. and it's awesome.

my car will look like aowe501's car once i get my AR2 wheels on. and his car is freakin beautiful, i love it.

Unfortunately, it is not a fair trade. MKIII's aren't worth shit (2j or not) and you're not going to find someone with an NA MKIV that gives a damn about your car. :dunno: Maybe I'm wrong - people tell me I am most of the time.

One thing that is invariably true - you will always value your car more than anybody else. If you feel it is a fair trade, it most likely is not.

It would cost you over 10k to do a complete 2JZ + 6spd swap into an NA Supra. A friend of mine spent over 10k alone just doing the 6spd swap.

i can get a GTO financed, can't get a MKIV financed unless it was a 98, which my bank will do. my father has a 68 charger r/t that we could get appraised and maybe take a 20k loan out on it. i don't know what the insurance would be on the charger though if i were to do that. we would get the car in my name cause i would take the loan out on it.

i've been in an mk3 since 2005 and i loved every minute of it, i had some issues in the past but i learned how to resolve them.

If you have to finance the purchase then you're buying beyond what you can afford, in my opinion. Save until you can afford a MKIV without trading your MKIII for it. There are other more affordable daily drivers you could get in the meantime.

i have the money to afford one. i'll have about 2,000 dollars to spend every month once my BAH kicks in, that's after rent. so i think i can afford a $400/month payment, insurance with my 89 supra and altima and the addition of a 94 supra is only 160 a month. i still have plenty of money to work on it. plus every time i deploy i usually save about 4k.

the only problem is financing it cause it's too old. i really don't want to wait 2 or more years to save that much money. that's why i was thinkin trading my 2jz mk3 for one.
