When celebrities (Rosie O'Donell in this case) say that they hate bush and republicans and that they want our country to become what our founding fathers dreamed of...a democracy.

I hate Hollywood...:3d_frown:

because hollywood influences people...and when idiots like Rosie O'Donnell decide that they want to get involved in politics...they use their mindless fan base to vote for idiot politicians that hold the same views as them (the ultra lefties). Then we can kiss what's left of our sweet republic goodbye.

If we ever become a pure democracy, this country will surely fall

Leftist folks arent the only problem. Its those damn Christian conservatives trying to rule this country and push their values on everyone. It doesnt help that we have a President that apparently thinks he's "God's" emmisary and thinking that he is carrying out "God's will" and forcing democracy( ahem Iraq) and Christian values ( anti- stem cell reasearch, anti-gay marriage etc..) on everyone.

^Haha that too, I've already made my stand on religion...

But I personally think both republicans and democrats are far too out of touch with most of this country and would really like to see both parties ousted out of American politics and then actually get some people into the government that LISTEN

That is so true. The Gov't it seems is all about lobbyist's, big money corporations, and special interest's groups. Like Lou Dobbs has been saying " there's a war on the middle class!"

The problem is those seculars that are trying to push their values and religion on us through the courts via lawsuits to the 9th circuit.

The 9th Circuit kicks ass! If it wasnt for them, we wouldnt have people with enough balls to "legally" stand up to the Conservatives that apparently run this country.

Couldn't agree more. Too many left and right wing wackos. We need more moderates and people who can actually speak for the majority of the country.

If a sports team was as bad as our government, there would be a lot of changes made and a complete retooling of the team where half the team is released which is exactly what I think most of our government needs.

One man with a million imaginary friends is a lunatic.
One million men with one imaginary friend is a religion.

The crazier ones will carry out what they believe is right and good in the name of, or they will even die for, their imaginary friend.

^^ Couldn't have said it better. Though I believe that organized religion has it's place in society I just dont think that it should be involved in politics. Last I checked we elected a Commander-in-Chief not a Pastor-in-Chief!

As opposed to the communist liberals who enslave you with welfare money taken from MY wallet in order to keep you under their control. Given the choice, I choose the ten commandments over the communist manifesto.

Most Chrisitans try to be "God's emmisary" by acting like Jesus would in love and compassion and forgiviness. Just like the innocent nun who was murdered by muslims recently, and forgave her killers on her death bed. As for Iraq, I say better to battle them on their turf instead of my backyard. As far as stem cell research goes, only GOVERNMENT FUNDING of EMBRIONIC stem cell research was halted. Stem cells can be harvested quite easily from places other than embryos, like umbilical cords for example. If you want to research stem cells then go right ahead because THERE IS NO LAW AGAINST IT! Why do you think gays want to marry? There are churches that will marry gays, but that's not what they want. They want to be recognized by government so that goverment benefits reserved for married couples can be had by gay couples. Case in point- Gerry Studds, the first openly gay congressman married his boyfriend Dean Hara in 2004 when it was legal in Massachusetts. Hara has learned he is not eligible for any portion of Studds’ estimated annual $114,337 pension following his partner’s death last week. Hara is going to sue the government for the pension and the ACLU is looking at helping him. From the looks of it, your point of view is that it's OK to take money out of my pocket to pay for things that violate my religious beliefs. That is not the principal that this country was founded on.

The Ninth circuit court is the most reversed court in the nation. Can you tell me why? It's not because conservatives apparently run the country, it's because the court's decisions are NOT legal. Your idols with the balls won't fight in the legislative arena because they are COWARDS and they know they lose in the arena of ideas so they use the ninth circus court to legislate from the bench thus bypassing the whole legislative process. If that's the america you want then you must be reading Stalin or Chairman Mao.

The founding fathers of America disagree with you.
President Thomas Jefferson said:
And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever.
President George Washington said:
It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors.
President James Madison said:
It is the duty of every man to render to the Creator such homage, and such only, as he believes to be acceptable to him. This duty is precedent both in order of time and degree of obligation, to the claims of Civil Society. Before any man can be considered as a member of Civil Society, he must be considered as a subject of the Governor of the Universe.
I could go on and on but...(pulls trigger) I have to go bury my kitten.

that is why it is not a "pure democracy" ...the electoral college is the BEST example of this.

the founding fathers knew that the masses were stupid. it was true in their time, and it is still true today.

sure hollywood influences people, but to what degree is an indication of their intelligence, dont you think?

and in my not so humble opinion those who are so concerned with how bad hollywood are no better than those who live thier lives everyday hanging on rosie or oprahs every word.

Do they still bomb abortion clinics and force the doctors to wear bulletproof vests to go to work?

Those people are off the hook. One dude got his social security, driver's license number on the web, got his kids pictures along with the address of his kids school on the web.

How do you figure? Because I think hollywood has basically turned our society and value system into shit and now they're using their "power" to try to help turn what's already a shit ass broken government into more shit I'm some how the same as some mindless drone that would vote for Bill Clinton just because Oprah said so? Yeah right dude...

And I know we're not a pure democracy, but are we sliding that way? Hell yeah we are. Why is it that everyone of our leaders is so obsessed with calling us a democracy instead of a republic? Why are we spreading democracy and not creating republics?
