Yeah actually theres a place here that has rebuilt engine short blocks for $775. Id say get the red one and lets do it, but he wants 5-speed, I even have a 5 speed R154 I might sell him cheap but I dont want to if we have to cut up the firewall for that 3rd pedal.
for the 5spd swap you will need the master clynder, slave clynder, tranny, 5spd driveshaft, hard lines, soft lines, clutch, flywheel flex plates, and the mounting bracket... and correct me if Im wrong but you really wouldn't have to cut up the firewall, the master clynder holes are already there... and I believe the ones for the petals are too. Remember, when making cars they are not going to make different bodies for each little thing they do different.. it would cost too much.

Do you have a place to work on these cars? Plenty of tools etc?

Thats not a bad deal for the two cars. You could part out the bits you don't use and use the rest of the cash to build one nice one.

If you build it yourself you at least know whats in it, and how the workmanship is. It is always difficult to buy a previously modded car, as you don't know how well it was done. Most guys do good work but there are some shady wannabe mechanics out there too!

I see you guys are in Houston, so there is plenty of help around here. Man I have about 2 full cars worth of 7M shit in my garage alone, so it's not hard to piece together what you will need.

Let me know if I can help, I am selling my 7M stuff so check my build thread to see my setup, if you want any 7M stuff let me know.

Get the 2 $500 cars........but see if he will throw in the bad 7MGTE that came out of the Red car. It's has value in parts. Plus, the work has already been done for you getting the bad motor out of the way. You just need to swap the good parts over from the POS White car. But that's the catch, if it's a POS car........How's that motor????????? If good, then just swap the parts. As said before, if you do that work, you know what you have. Just be sure to do a compression check on the motor you are goping to be counting on.

can i be honest with you? they are out there i got mine in almost running conditions for 500.00 i was lucky, but then again i wasnt becuause it was sitting on someones yard i took it upon my self to ask what was wrong with it, and the owner said it wouldnt start... the car was compleate nothing was missing. A 5 spd Turbo Targa i wasnt about to say no to 500.00 so i had it towed to my house and began going through it to see what was wrong ....the #6 sparkplug was broken i replaced it ($1.95) and it started right up..... alot of people dont want to put the time and money into an old car so look around take a day and go Supra hunting i know you will find one. we all know supras break down alot and are a money pit so alot of people dont want to bother with it. good luck and trust me they are out there all you have to do is look and find it

With a limited budget and it sounds like youre not prepared to dump more money into the car, I dont think the MK3 is for you at this point in time. If you only have $1000 in the bank, and haev your parents giving you 3k, it might be a total PITA to maintain this car.

let me put in in prospective for yah steve

im 18 i make about 800-1000 every 2 weeks i work 2 jobs, 3 if you count my part time militry.
i pay rent, buy my own food, clothes, gas and insurence so theres 5-600 gone before i get to have fun. now with that other 300-500 i put 250 away for a rainy day that i wont tuch until im like 80. now that leaves me with 50-250 to play with and i can barly afford my car.

oh yah i live with my perants so, i get one day off a week. today this week and i get home at anywere between 11-12 and i get up at 6. so its not easy for a teen to own a supra but if your like me and love the cars then its worth it.

just look around youll find one yah like

K, lemme get this straight, his parents will give him 3k, hes got 1 k, thats 4k. I bought Cherry White 89 N/A manual from the original owner for 3k 5 years ago, it had 127k on it it now has 180k on it now, all I've done is install a JDM motor I won on ebay for 500.00 that had just been rebuilt and payed 630.00 for it to be installed. I just did a quick search on craigslist.org for DFW area and saw a few nice ones. I am not sure where your looking but I would imagine there are some sweet deals waiting for you close to home. From my experience blow the wad on the Sweetest lowest mileage car you can find. Now you have one to build on. Don't start out with a ride that needs to make shop owners and parts sellers wealthy. They have plenty of customers already. There are two other places to look, ebay and traderpubs.com. I sold my 68 charger to two belgium teeagers who flew over here with cash, so I know traderpubs is worldewide as is craigslist. Here in CA craigslist is becoming the premeir way to sell anything since it's FREE.

the 1jz swap is going to cost more than 3k. im pretty sure of that im currently in a 1jz swap and its costing more than 5k. sourcing those extra parts, the exhaust and ic, and ic pipes. you will need more than 3k to do the job.

As for tools and place to work on it..i have all that. As for money to maintain the car and keep it in good running condition i can do that. My dad doesnt mind buying me car parts as long as i keep my grades good (and i have). I have done a decent amount of car work in the past (Jeep engine swap, taking care of my jeep i got for $500) as far as getting the red one...i just have to convince my dad i can get the swap done without it being in the garage forever..lol

if the holes are there, Id still say we get the red one, and fix the guys 3rd one with the BHG, he said if I fixed it, I get the white one for free... Id probably give steven the motor and tranny and part the rest of it off for sale. I think we have a basis of where to start.

kid take my advice. save the money and wait. i know you want the car really bad but keep looking around until you find a clean unmolested car. its easier to take a stock car and keep it running well than take a problem car and start fixing all the little things that will crop up.
