Personally I don't care what soemone will pay for my car if it's modified or not... I just don't want people thinking I'm dumping $20k into a $3k POS, that will be worth maybe $4k afterwards.... because I plan to keep mine forever...

In fact if I ever get too old on the verge of losing all my marbles, I wanna go out in style... sitting in the car driving off some pier into the ocean full throttle at 30psi ... or maybe make a mad dash in the arizona desert straight for area 51, maybe i'll see some aliens before they blow me up LOL

ANYHOW... ya just would be nice to get some respect I guess, and would be nice if it was worth more then a flat screen tv... that's all.

Hmmmmm.....$15,000 might make you the new owner....:)

Man your car looks exactly like my old car down to the last detail, makes me sick. That interior is spot on to what mine looked like. In fact if you would like to see, go to 7mpower.com , look at will neelys mk3. His whole interior was taken from my 92 in a deal after I blew the engine (stupid me).
would love to have your car but just sank 15g+ into my 89 this summer so I may as well keep going with this one.

WEll then I guess mine will be a good example of what the value of a stock MKIII will do over time. I plan on keeping it stock. It is just my preference in keeping things as they were originally designed, no matter what limitations may have been accepted at the time of manufacture. I'm the same way with my MKII. So, what do you guys think mine would go for?? Here is a link to a recent post with pics...

..................Edit: went and looked again...its silver, has 39k miles and the guy wants 13k...and to be honest...I would buy it for that if I had the money to spend
Heck yeah, I would pay that. Having only 39k miles is still close to new condition................

I wouldn't pay 13k for an old car no matter if it had 1000 miles on the clock. Would rather spend 5k on a good one tare it down and re build it with the 8k I had left in my pocket. With 8k doing all the work yourself you would litteraly have brand new mk3 with a few modest upgrades.

i agree. Restoring a car to 'brand new' condition would take an obscene amount of money.

Obviously it wouldn't be brand new, but all the parts that matter i.e brakes, suspension, engine would be as new. Refurbish all the other parts, full interior retrim and fresh paint. I didn't mean go to toyota and say can i have all the parts listed for a 1990 toyota supra please that would cost about $100.000.

I come from a land down under
Allan's car has 18k miles on it and he paid MUCH less than 15K and you'd be hard pressed to find a better condition Mk3!

Having said that I have an obscene amount of money in my car as NOTHING is old/2nd hand in it's mechanicals.

The shell is a pig so this is why if I ever want to get rid of it it'll be parted out.

In 1976 I purchased a 1966 Corvette Coupe 327 350HP for $2700 fixed it up
a little and sold it about 2 yrs later for $4600 and thought I had done VERY
well, Oh well it would now only bring $30,000. Like some have mentioned
here (minus $1000) for each mod that is not orig or stock - that is almost
correct. These cars will go up eventually but the most highly prized ones will
be the virtually bone stock specimens. This seems to be true of most cars.
If you look at the cars on Barrett Jackson auctions even if its a factory
Hemi Cuda it will have the orig. cast iron headers as it came from the factory
even though I know the first thing people did back then was to put those Hooker or Headman headers on along with a Hurst shifter and traction bars
etc. I plan to do mods on my 87 turbo but I will keep it stock looking and will
retain all parts removed (just in case).
