Im having trouble getting a clear answer... Can the Slip Yoke from the R154 transmission be taken apart at the U-joint from the drive shaft without cutting it?

Basicly can I get a Adapter U-joint and put the MKiii Slip yoke on to another driveshaft?

Thanks guy

are you trying to make a 1pc driveshaft? is this for a swap you're doing?
yes any u-joint can be seperated, there are 4 clips to remove, then you can use a big hammer and a vice to pound it apart, or a special u-joint press tool. you usually have to beat it like a red-headed step child to get it apart.

Thanks for responding! I already have a drive shaft the high quality i wanna use and I could never find a straight answer and everyone I found for sale was cut off with about a foot of the driveshaft so I assumed it didnt come apart

ya u take the clips out hit it on the u-joint with a socket and hammer take the cap off one end hit it on the other side to get the other cap off and do the same to the other sides. just watch out for the needle bearings inside the cap dont loose any if you arnt replacing them.

Thanks guys... Now can anyone tell me how long a R154 w/1jz bellhousing is from mounting face(where bolts to motor) to center of drive shaft yoke(where the driveshaft starts)?

I wouldn't reuse a torn apart U-joint either, there chaep enough to throw away... But my concern was I was lead to believe they did not come apart at all on the MKIII Supras and for my swap all I need is the slip yoke to adapt to my driveshaft. The original plan was to use a TH400 but now leaning Towards a R154... But need to find its deminsions

IIRc we don't have snap rings. I'd never reuse a U-joint I've taken apart, it's a huge pain in the ass to remove and more than likely gets damaged. Might as well replace it while it's out than having to pull it apart again if you did damage it...

Right on. No snap rings on ours, and don't reuse them. I <3 serviceable U-joints! (zerk fittings FTW)

I have a slip yoke in my garage that I use in place of the special service tool to drop the transmission. The u-joints do indead just press out, but I got lazy and split one of the ears so the cap would come out easier (was pressed for time)
