Yet another wheel off-set question...

I know you all hate answering everybody's off-set questions, however I just want to make sure something will work before jumping into it...

I'm about to purchase a set of wheels that I've been contemplating for a month or so, and I am PRETTY SURE they'll fit properly, however I just want a couple confirmations (don't want any more buyers remorse than I'll already have)...

The wheels are staggered, 18x8.5+37 front and 18x9.5+37 rear. From my knowledge and research I see no problems, do any of you?

Also, I plan to run 225s up front... what is the widest I could do in the rear without rubbing/needing to roll the fender (assuming there are no problems with the above off-sets from the start)? 255s? 265s?

should have no problem overall. the fronts might rub a touch at full lock on the inner fender lining.225 is narrow! put something wide on there im also running 18x8.5/9.5s

I was planning to do narrower in the front for handling / traction purposes (better for gripping in the rain or slick roads and cutting in on turns) and wide in the back (for powering grip on dry surfaces) to try to get a bit of the "best of both worlds").

What off-sets are you running? What tire sizes?

275mm = 10.8in, so that should fit on a 9.5" wide wheel... my main concern in that case is clearance without rolling the fenders... Also, I do want something drivable in the rain (the wider the tire, the more effort it takes to "pump" water out and the more the tendency to hydroplane).

Thanks for your help guys, I went ahead and purchased the rims. They should be arriving the week after next (I'm having the seller hold on to them cuz I'm at the beach next week).

I wouldn't run 30 you need more sidewall run I would run at least 40 in the rear.

I plan to run 245's in front and 275's out back on simialirly sized wheels. Something to consider when doing a staggered setup is how the tires affect such things as turn in. With a wider tire on the rear of the tire, it makes it harder to turn the car. ie: understeer

The greater the difference between the front and rear tires...the more understeer you have.

People run 275 on MKIV TT rims all day long all the time, and they are 9.5" wide. I got 255's on mine and will be getting 275 drag radials as soon as the tires I have now are shot.

Also I know of guy here that ran 295's on 18x10's without rolling the fenders on a MKIII.

with my front i went 235 with 38mm offset on rear i used 265 but my offset on those wheels were 45mm and any further i worry about hitting the rear traction arm

I don't know how close it was but people run 275's on Mk4 wheels (9.5 wide with +50 offset) and don't rub. I think you had more room than you think.

cant even put my finger between the wheel and the traction arm (i do have the Lipp traction arms too they are a bit taller than the stock design) never had a prob though, thought about getting a spacer...

only pic i have and the wheel is off heh and the pic is blurry, but the wheel is pretty close to it
