Shit. I almost would have rather lived in ignorance. I bought one of these XTD Clutches Stage 2 with a Light flywheel (package deal) I needed both and the price was awsome. The pressure plate looks exactley like the one in the first post. Has anyone purchased and/or heard anything about this flywheel? It was listed as a 12lb. I know I have a picture of it somewhere which i will post soon. Thanks for any input.

Just a little update, as I posted about a year ago that I bought one of these for my N/A.

The clutch itself has help up great. Still chatters, though. Recently pulled my trans. to swap to a fresh one, and did notice something peculiar. Although the clutch disk(Stage 3 6 puck made from their "special" material) hasn't worn or cracked, both the pressure plate and flywheel have a very nice groove cut in them where the clutch pads engage. Not just normal wear, or anything even close. An actual groove, the exact width of the pads. I've done a lot of clutch jobs, and never seen anything like it. Has to be close to 1/32" in a stock flywheel. So now I'm in the market for a new clutch AND flywheel(mine could be resurfaced, but I'd like a light weight one). Won't make this mistake again.

I only read to about page six and then skipped here to post...

I have bought an XTD Stg 3 for an RB20 application (same as NA 300ZX) and I can absolutely confirm that the PP I received was a STOCK PP that had been painted. It was a knockoff brand of stock clutch aswell (exdy is real nissan stock if I hear correctly), and just happened to have all the same stickers left on it that the wasted stock knockoff were were removing did... They just painted over the damn things.

We finished the install and pedal fell was EXACTLY the same as before...patheticly soft.

It grabbed really hard because of the puck disk, but couldnt even hold the power of a stock RB20 on a hard 1-2 shift. It would slip to the point that you had to let out and get back in it at a lesser amount of throttle... This as after a very easy 400 or so mile break in btw.

This is the first time I have ever seen a thread about these clutches and it is a little gratifying to know I was not being paranoid about those things.

^Most aftermarket kits use a reworked stock Pressure plate. So yes, it will look like a stock PP. All other info about it is in this thread. It is safe to say that the XTD is at best a misrepresented clutch kit.

I can't remember who bought mine, but I have never heard anything negative about it since. I don't know if it did the guy any good or not.

That sucks, but it is kind of funny at the same time.

Our stock pressure plate plus 6 puck combo could have been a brand the whole time!!!

Unfortunately this combo does not stand up to any kind of abuse.

bigaaron;602710 said:
We did some calculations on it and it should be able to handle at least 550ft/lbs with a 6 puck.

is this a scam also:icon_ques

I bought a used xtd clutch/flywheel from someone on the forums, and, for the price, I figured why the hell not, I'll try it.

I ended up getting the disc rebuilt at a local clutch shop and installed the unit. The flywheel is 12lbs, if not lighter, and was well worth the money.

I'm running a garrett gt4088 with an 18lb wastegate spring and haven't had any issues with slipping yet.

I can say that the pedal feels the exact same, which is disappointing, since I like to have a stiff clutch, but after speaking with my clutch rebuilder, he said he can get a "heavy duty" spring for the pressure plate, which I might give a try.

i just installed one of the f1 racing stage 3 copper ceramic 6 puck kits.. havent driven the car yet so i have no idea what anything feels like or how itll hold up...

but from what i can tell, i searched all the ebay clutches, and this one seems to be the most bona fide of them all.. the clutch surface is actually carbon ceramic, not that darker colored mystery material. the clutch plate is daul spring with concentric springs. the bearings i got were official toyota parts, in their boxes, and the pressure plate appears to have ACTUALLY been heat treated, as you can see the blueing of the metal. ill post an update when ive driven on it for a while.. but out of the box, i think i made a good purchase and wouldnt consider f1 racing a scam

i got it from gripforce and it was a fast transaction.

anybody else have any other info on them?

For bpu cars the clutch would probably be ok, the issue I had was they they were lying about the pressure plate being upgraded with a "35% thicker spring". I don't consider red paint to be an "upgrade", and that's the only thing they do to the pressure plate.

i had to say my car only has about 320hp and it slipped bad!!! i baby my car and broke it in slow, the thing is a piece of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what has been done to your car?

Mine's pretty decntly modified (garrett gt4088, 4in. Exhaust, and so on) and haven't had any issues with slipping.

I have the basic rc550 ct26 57 trim 10 degree clip, 3in full exhuast, 12 lbs flyweel and so on. This is the thing, mabey some of there clutches are made weaker. when action tested the xtd, it was weaker than STOCK. explain that one! So you can honestly say that you are happy with your chattering, weak feeling clutch?

I haven't had any problems out of it. A small amount of chatter, but that's a given with any six-puck clutch that I've ever had.

The only thing that MAY make mine different is that I had my clutch disc rebuilt before installing it. Yes, it was used when I got it, but it was cheap and I had to know how "crappy" they were after reading all of the information on here.

My wastegate spring is set at 18lbs (give or take, I don't drive the car during the winter and can't remember) and haven't had it slip yet.

Would I purchase another one? Probably not. The pedal needs to be a bit firmer to fit my tastes.

Regarding the F1 Racing Clutch kit w/ & w/o the flywheel from Grip Force....

Why is it that the one with the total package (clutch kit /w flywheel)
Horsepower Rating: 425 HP / Torque Capacity: 440 ft/lbs

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-S...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

is rated LESS (you think it would be the same) then the one without the flywheel??
Horsepower Rating: 480 HP / Torque Capacity: 458 ft/lbs

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F1-S...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Think it would be better to buy this?

They really need to get their ducks in a row...The fact that it's two different numbers (in that sequence) seems like the company is a bit disorganized if you ask me.
