St2b, you rock. I'm doing this tomorrow [but with LED's, they just came in today :D]

Now I'll just need to do my CC...or maybe I'll just get rid of the bulbs so I don't have to mess with soldering.

Thanks for the write up!

THe gauge cluster was a PITA to unplug, but I got it.

Oh yeah, the paint is not forgiving on clothes?? It's worse on the skin and fingernails man!! I'll be posting up some before and after pics and I'll get a vid up on the test run when I make sure everythings working.

looks slick, can you try taking a picture with a tripod and a longer exposure time? makes me wish i had done this when i had my gauge cluster out last month... maybe ill just take it out again :)

That'll delay the build another year Toby. For the love of god don't do it.

Otherwise VERYNICE!

I'm thinking blue or red myself.

Gah!!!! >.< I gotta shoot the vids and 'After' Photos again. I shot them in TOO HIGH of resolution and the site wont upload it, or photobucket for that matter.

I'll get the vid up soon atleast.

Can't wait to see it. I'd love to see more of these custom colored dashes to see what colors work well.

Looks pretty good man. I also did mine in red. The only thing I would suggest is that you don't use the hobby model translucent paint. IF you are doing red or blue (these are available in automotive stores) buy them. If you want something else then go with the model paint. The reason I say this is because the bought ones give of a much richer color without diminishing the brightness AND they will last longer. With the model paint they eventually start to fade and/or burn out faster.

The climate control is pretty easy if you have any skill in soldering (or even if you don't. Toyota has some pretty low standards when it comes to PCB assembly grading...IMO). The only real challenge is the digits. Finding the right size and polarity is tough to do. A lot of people just leave it but I couldn't, it would have bugged the shit out of me!

Matt - Awesome write up. Your pictures though...LOL, could've used some help, but it looks great.

Don't know if anyone noticed this (or even Matt for that matter)...

BUT YOUR TEMPERATURE IS NAILED TO THE TOP OF THE GAUGE!!! :aigo:

:biglaugh:

Again, very nice though. ;)

After unplugging the harness, has anyone's Air Bag Light [on the dash] stayed on?
Because mine is, like after the car is started the Air Bag light just stays on. I ran codes and got a code 41 but I'm having a hard time getting rid of it.

IDK, just thought I'd ask:nono:

Oh and tomorrow I'll take some pics of my - now red - gauges.

its a cool alternative to going with leds... I really think it looks nice. but I'll stick with leds.

like I'm converting my cluster on my accord to leds. so right now its half stock green with the speedo neon blue.
