The awesome 800+hp HKS Drag Supra. A 1990 Toyota Supra body with all carbon fiber body panels sitting on top of a custom chassis by Pro-Chassis. The heart of this monster is a de-stroked 2.89-liter twin-turbo 7MGTE, capable of 9000+ rpm and an 8.09 sec 1/4 mile...

The Juicy Details (from Aaron's Site)
Callies crankshaft (Stroke=~87mm /Stock=91mm)
Carillo rods
HKS pistons
HKS camshafts
HKS HUGE intercooler
Twin Garrett T04 turbos
HKS stand-alone programmable EFI & ignition computers
ATI crankshaft dampener
Dry sump oil system with custom aluminum oil pan

Those 800 stampeding horses are attached to the ground through a 2-speed ATI computer-controlled, air-shifter powerglide transmission. So what's the bottom line? Low 8-second quarter-mile times, in light rain, through the mufflers!

Might be a different car I saw but at NOPI in 2005 at STL, there was a 1JZ-GTE powered full drag car, also right hand drive which was interesting, it ran an 8.7 sec 1/4 mile. Looked like low budget team, just 3 guys + driver and a regular car trailer and a powerstroke pickup to tow it and a lil tent to keep car covered from sun. had all these simple green or whatever vinyls from sponsor i assume.

If I recall correctly they did a lot of weight reduction to get the car that fast (in addition to the power levels).

A full tube chassis and a Cf body will do that ;)

My guess is that car weighed about 2400 lbs or so....

So is a MKIII capable of that? Not a regular one for sure.

I know all of this but its cool to see. Theres another "more stock" 7mgte on the site that ran 9.5.

Its kind of like the million dollar 4 cylinder integra that made 2000 horsepower. Not even the same engine, double displacement etc....but integra owners claim that integras are capable of that lol. I just thought it was interesting.

that would be the greased lightning car, which won at NOPI at Norwalk in Ohio. Originally a 1jz-gte rhd j-spec car, but converted to a single turbo 2jz and full mkiv power train (built toyota auto) and runs low 9's on chrome mkiv rear rims with a 315 wide BFGoodrich drag radial (he says it rubs a lot) I think it's like modahvi motorsports or something.
