All I know is if I was still in school I would be on my way to federal prison right now... I didn't take too well with their bullshit when I was growing up. It flat out sucks schools are now more along the lines of zero tolerance jails.

So before school I went to see if the dean had changed her mind about the situation.....she hasnt. And now its, "youre going to go to all 3 days of ISS and we will talk about what were going to do next after that." Which means she has something up her sleave. So I kept my mouth shut and left. So then I went to the teacher that wrote the refferal and apologized if it had offended her. She said "sorry but i dont care".

So after attempting to apologize I went back to what I use to do in middle school.....I called my mom. lol
And I received at text in the middle of my 2nd day of ISS, telling me that I no longer had to go for my 3rd day and that she had a conference with the principal the vp and both of my teachers. (text was from my mom) Apparently my mom raised hell in the office, and the principal threw out my 3rd day of ISS. So now Im waiting to see if they are going to get rid of the absence ( if your in ISS it counts as an absence) so I can be exempt from my final...

I know the mom thing is kinda childish but there is more is respect for a 40 yr old mother than there is for an 18 yr old kid.

So DT what do you think???

Hey, whatever gets results! It was a shitty situation to begin with, but I'm glad it seems to be working out, one way or another.

As childish as it seems, parents are the only ones that will get shit done in a school. Students trying to get things done is the equivelent of inmates in a prison trying to change the jail...

I say you did the right thing -- if at first (or second, third, etc) you don't succeed.....call in reinforcements. Hell, that's what parents are for...to have your back. You tried handling it yourself, but got nowhere; it was the next logical step. Good luck getting the absences rescinded...

Man, I feel lucky every time I see a thread like this. My public school was nowhere near this bad, they were usually quite fair and usually only spent a few weeks out of the school year on the state test prep. The only people who were in ISS or OSS were people who got in fights (or in one case brought a gun to school, just to show off not to shoot anyone...idiot...).

Look up your laws about recording conversations. When you talk to your teacher, VP, or P record your conversations.

I know in NJ the law states that 1 person should know that their conversation is being recorded. IE: Person recording knows so they do not have to ask for permission or tell the other persion(s).

Record everything, remember to be polite, and if things aren't what they should be. Really go public. Contact the news if you have too. Show them you are not bsin. Im sure it will be on the 10 showing

You should've gone to your parent(s) from the get-go. No, it's not childish. It takes a parent to butt-f&#k the principal in his/her own office with every legal threat to get anything done nowadays. What happened to you is/was unfair, no, you don't have to take it, but no, don't expect to get any understanding from the "adults" there. Go to your family, plead your case, go in with them prior to start of class, and sit in the hallway as they put on the long-armed latex gloves. Then, once the principal has conceded, make eye contact with them and any teacher you can afterwards. Show them you can NOT be intimidated, you won't stand for their Communistic crap, and proceed to class as normal.

I took on an entire school when they tried to pull shit like that on me. I was attacked by the school bully at the time on school grounds, and BOTH of us were scheduled for ISS (I tried to plead my case on deaf ears as well). My family tried to argue with them about why I was going in as well, they wouldn't listen to them either. On the day my ISS was to start, dad went into the office WITH 2 police officers in tow to have the bastard AND the teacher arrested for assault since he stood by while I was being wailed on (I never even threw a punch, he had suckered me before I knew he was there...), and the principal received a call five minutes later from my dad's attorney ready to file a lawsuit on the school. After he collapsed on his ego like a scared puppy, he cleared me on all demerits earned for the ISS (and the rest of the year), called the bully's parents to be there when the police took their kid into custody, and followed my dad out the front of the school doors begging not to be sued, just as the newspaper interviewers had arrived (that lawyer had INCREDIBLE timing!!!).

Legal threats go a LOT farther than logic to a school system, trust me.
