If a group held a large LAN party complete with many different games, booths with vendors, had a liqour licence, and offered prizes would you go and pay? If you would go out to an event that last either a day or a weekend what would you be looking for? What games, types of music, offered food, type of environment? Would offering selling alcohal or anything else attract you to the event? All your input would be much appreciated.

Back in the day when CS 1.2 came out, I was into LAN gaming, its a sausage fest of pizza faced nerds. Granted, the vast majority of them are genuinely chill guys, but if i'm going to be hanging with a bunch of random people, it wouldn't be in one big cramped room. Well, I might if i was really drunk and there were strippers everywhere.

Back in the days of CS 1.0, I used to go to lan parties a lot. But by 1.3 shit got gay...

Anyway, I don't think Alcohol is exactly nerd / gamer friendly. I wouldn't dig that.... I go to play games and chat, alcohol is not needed to have fun.

Anyway, I'm considering opening up an ARCADE/LAN/GAME SALES center myself.

booze and gaming go great together, you might want to also have red bull machines or something simalar, i thik liquid ice and bawls are still big with gamers. oh, my advice on the music, get one itunes computer on the network, and get a shitload of everything. then put itunes on each computer and allow them to connect to your master itunes. let them listen to what they want.

An old buddy of mine built a server just for gaming a while back and every now and then we'd get a bunch of people and go get a couple side-by-side motel rooms and pile in the computers for a night. Alcohol and drugs everywhere. Not your stereotypical pizza-faced nerds, all cool guys. *sigh* good times, we gotta do that shit again.

The paying to get in would because we are looking at being a 100+ turn out and to account for the networking thats needed, the space rental, and all other nessicary costs. Not looking on makin alot if any coin off the event. Plus we are trying to get multiple sponsors like alienware, nvidia, and newegg. Also a tournament would be held and prizes at the end. Free goodies at the entry. also space would not be an issue people upto 300 person turn out would have plenty of table space and room to scretch.
