Vinyl is also a good choice...everyone always thinks it's leather, but it lasts longer with hardly any maintenance... :D

Sorry, it was dark when I took these:

If you want leather then get them reupholstered. I love leather. The smell and feel and all cleaned and conditioned they are beautiful.

Jonathan, the vinyl looks great, but, how is it in hot weather? I remember vinyl seats when I was a kid and burning myself on them.

I have to admit, i would take leather over cloth seats, but i'd have to find reasonabally priced nice leather to go for it.

One another note, how do i get the steering wheel off?

Vinyl is superior to leather in every way, and has been for a while now. The thing with leather is that cows haven't changed - they still provide the same skin, which we treat in a certain way and put on our seats.

Vinyl, on the other hand, is man made. 40 years ago, it was pretty sad. 20 years ago, it was getting better, but still far inferior to leather. The thing is, it keeps getting better, while cows are still just cows.

Today, it's not the same at all. Modern Vinyl is tougher than leather, feels better, wears better, survives extreme temperatures better, and, damn it, costs more money. The only place it loses is the social stigma it carries - nobody can get over the fact that this isn't the stuff Gramps had on his Dodge Dart in '68.

There is a damn big nut under the horn. Pull that off, pray, and try to pull the steering wheel straight off.

When that fails, go get a wheel puller from your parts store. :)

^ don't pull the nut all the way off. leave it partially threaded, otherwise when you pull, you get a mouth full of steering wheel. trust me. ;)

microsquede like in that picture above i would say is superior to vinyl wont be near as hot or cold and looks like leather also =) and kevlar for the bolsters would make it look like racing seats and help the wear issue.

Good vinyl does cost more than leather. It really is nice stuff. I went to three shops here in Florida and none would warranty leather in the Florida sun and heat. All of them recommended vinyl. I prefer cloth so that is what I went with.

Thats very interesting Chris. I know mercedes used something other than leather for long time now, and those seats seam to hold up over long timespan.
