Depending on what part , i see alot of people put China HID headlights on their supras . I got one on my supra , and no thanks on engine parts , tranny parts ,turbo parts, suspension parts and some other movement parts .Their material are soft and won't take abuse ! so if some thing that not abuse concern then it's ok to use.

I will for things like hids or hks parts made in china.

Also, the way things are going with economies, it's only a matter of time until the Japanese have their cars built in China to save costs .....lol

You know what the funny thing was...about two years ago I read in WallStreet Journal that Ford, GM, and Chrysler was thinking of making cars in China to reduce cost.

Did anybody know that the Chinese actually make cars? They have like over twenty different brands. I do have to admit, some are knock off of other cars and some are decent originals.

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to spark some emotions...I was just wondering if people would or would not run china or taiwan car parts on their Supras. :biglaugh:

I know sometimes OEM parts aren't exactly from Japan either.

I will not use that crap.
They are the biggest pollution generating country on the face of the earth.
All they know how to do is COPY good parts made elseware.
And their products SUCK...........

I don't stuff socks into my underware,
I don't chase girls with fake titts,
And I will not use a cheap copy of a name brand performance part.

I agree with everything but the fake tits part.

I have to agree with the fake tits. There is something not right with tits that stand at attention when a woman is laying down. Big tits are suppose to sag, the nipples don't point in the same direction and disappear into the womans arm pits when she's laying down. That's why I perfer a large B to a medium C. Man, what a thread jack....

And about the Chinese made parts. You get what you paid for.

I try very hard to not use China made knock off parts. As a North American parts fabricator/ manufacturer myself, that has had my own custom parts sent to china and knocked off behind my back, I try as hard as possible to not support the China made knock-off market. It is different with name brand parts that are made in China, such as some HKS, Greddy parts, but the knock off copies I stay away from.

I emailed the "China man" and wanted to know the pricing of buying the knock off BIC downpipes.......I could get the finnished product shipped back to me here in Canada for the same price as just my materials here!!!!! It is crazy, how I am I supposed to compete with that?. Yes there is still a few that support the innovators not the replicators, and I Thank You.

The other thing is that the quality control is not there, yes China can make good parts as many HKS, Greddy parts are made there, but for the knockoff parts that cost 50% less than the real parts that you see all over Ebay, the quality is very low. Most people have to spend a day hogging out bolt holes, and re-machining flanges to make the things even fit the car. The materials are also very low quality, they say they are stainless steel, but it is a very low grade, which more often than not is magnetic, which is a quick way to test the quality of stainless steel (that should not be magnetic at all).

If you want to see your American, Canadian fabricators / shops survive, and continue to bring out new parts for your mk3 Supra, You NEED to support them!!!

^ i agree, only reason i did get the china DP/Ypipe is cause no one makes them any more because of this reason. If they did i would have never had a problem dishing out the $$ for quality parts. That the only reason i have china made parts. And a copy ssqv.... All other parts get picked from the best price/quality/person.

I actually made the original 1jz Y pipe along with Turbo Drifter a few years ago for his car, he sold it to someone on SF and a few months later there were replicas of them , funny how that works. I would have made more of them but they were just way to labor intensive with 6-10 hours of fabbing, plus the cost of the stainless steel, would have made them a $600+ hand made item.

Said perfectly.

Im at a point in my life where spending a day to try to get something to fit right isnt worth the 100 dollars (or whatever) in savings from buying a china part.

I'd also rather buy something thats made of high quality materials, just like Randy said. Its going to last longer, work better and be worth more if I decide to sell it later.

Yes i remember this when i first use to troll the site. I didn't go 1J till later on and i looked for the original one you made and thats when i found out you didnt make them any more. I also try to stay with trusted well known working parts. I purchase everything from driftmotion, vendors, HPF, and every little from ebay.

I agree the quality control in third world countries is probably not up to par with what it is in America, but does anybody have documented statistics to prove this?

Where can one find information about these "wholesale" manufacturers? I don't imagine they are ISO certified...?
