if i was to use any electric fan off any kind of car and wire it up to the stock little electric fans on the side of the radiator to take place of everything would it circulate air as well as the stock setup? because i want to get rid of the belt driven fan... and i already have an electric fan in order to do this, just figured id ask if it would be a good or a bad idea to do...

if you already have fans ordered they will take up the whole rad and certain cars use different cfms than ours too ex. honda civic fans big no no:3d_frown: one guy did that and he paid for it in the long run. if you do run extra auxillary fans get some #'s if you can.

well mainly what i plan on doing is buying a dual electric fan setup out of a 98 ford tarus and centering it, although it will almost take up the whole radiator... and wiring it up to where it runs from when i turn on the key till i turn it off... and both of the fans are 7 blades, so i think it will turn out really nice

I use the fans off the 98 Contour. If you don't put them on a temp. switch, the car will run too cold. It won't warm up, idle high, and run rich. Oh yeah, the little stock fan is for the a/c, and is activated through a high pressure switch, iirc.

No, took the little a/c fan off. Wired the low speed resistor in the shroud(on the Contour fans) to an adjustable temp. switch, and wired the high speed to a switch installed in an empty hole by the fog light switch. Make sure you use relays for each, they'll help save your battery, and the fans. Took a while to get the temp. switch adjusted. Warmed up the car, and set the fans to come on(low speed) when the motor reached 190 at the tstat. This put the back cylinder at around 210. Car warms up and idles good. I've had it this way for about 6 months.

Alright. If you are going to keep your supra. I mean you know you will never sell it. Do anything and everything to it you want to because who really gives a rats. If you have the time the tools and the money. DO WORK.

And where the hell is baytown tx??? Is it a texas thing to do things the hard way?? Or what? You guys and these fans. Toyota's stock set up is fine. Even with a highly modded NA. I can see we are all trying to get to the same place. We are just taking different routes.

The fans don't rob anything compaired to your ac running full blast. I'm choosing to remove my ac unit and keep the stock fan. In all fairness I could be biased because I have to let toyota rape me for a new fan shroud. Wich is 125 bucks. If I had the fan shroud...., I may look at the fans. It seems there are still better things to do to get more power.

If your airfilter is not mounted in the nose of the car you have too much time on your hands because you haven't passed step one yet. If you do not own a dremel........, GET 1. And get the pencil grinder attachment, it really is less expensive to get the dremel with everything.

For future referances...., spend the money on the high dollar clutch because oem replacements don't get it done. They are temporary. I don't do that kind of work. Rebuilding from a BHG is about as far as I care to go unless I can get more power.

Ya they are supposed to be a toyota only part. Maybe if a guy can get 3 / 4 junked shrouds he could zip tie something together and it work. For a while.
I have them priced at 125$ here.

Wow, way to make a name for yourself right off the bat. I think that supramacist was just trying to help. Oh, and as for the stock clutch, any stock clutch blows especially when you are doing mods. Might as well change it out with a better one from the get go. Don't get so angry.

The only reason I comment on the oem clutch is because I had one put in a few months before this biznitch blew up. And I could tell it wasn't enough clutch.

I was just trying to keep anyone from making the mistakes I have made in working on my ride. Because unlike some of us. I am not a mechanic. I just work on my own shit. All of us in here need to find some sense of brotherhood and stop all of this 6th grade shit gentlemen.

actually i agree with cruel. you guys are being dicks about this. calm down some and get the sand out of your vaginas.

hey man i can appreciate the whole idea of wanting to go with the electrics. unfortunately we texans havent had much luck running electrics. im running the stock clutch fan with no a/c fans and a koyo and have no issues running a/c and idleing in our nice hot weather (dfw traffic ftl) the stock fan works pretty well really for what it does.

Wasn't trying to be a dick. Just trying to calm down the thread. I want to get some info out of this thread because I'm in the market to buy a radiator for my 1jz swap since I have the soarer 1jz with the clutch fan.

I'm not trying to give cuel a hard time either. He and I have spoken via pm.
I am sure all has been forgiven. If I am wrong he can correct me himself.

Do you miss your ac? Were there any noticable improvements after the procedure? How did you go about sealing the the fire wall inlets, or did you even?

Other than that I am all about a smooth productive site. As apposed to the snotty porsche cod knockers. This is the best supra site around and I for one fell pretty lucky to be able to communicate with United fellow gear heads.

So yes..., let's just stop hating. Atleast in here. lol

Go with a stocker for the supra. It can't be hard to plug in. It's always cool to hear of someone using soarer parts anyway. I think this would be the least expensive way to do it, is all I'm saying here.

Sorry, everythings cool. Yeah, I took certain comments personally, and replyed with unneccessary harshness. My apologies. My handle doesn't always describe my attitude. Anyway, the only problem I've actually had with my current setup is that it runs to cool in the winter time. I have to periodically adjust the temp switch to compensate for outside temperatures. I'm thinking this is due to the type of temp. switch I'm useing, and am looking for one that better suits my needs. I orginally installed this system as a test so I'd have a good answer to this particular question. Actually got the idea off someone on SF, I think... This is a dual fan setup in a self contained shroud(this is very important to how air is pulled through the radiator, instead of around it) that covers 90% of the radiator. Both fans pull air on both low and high speed. When installed and sealed to the radiator correctly, they'll hold a piece of tissue paper to the a/c condensor on low speed. The only thing that worries me is they're Ford parts.... I made sure I could get replacement motors when necessary.

Edit: I deleted my last post for being rude and useless. My apologies to all who took offense.

Hopefully it won't come to that, but I'd keep a close eye on them. My wife has a Mystique (same car as I'm sure you know). The only thing people ask when they over heat is if the fans siezed (again) or if the switches failed (again). The fans in the Merc. have been replaced three times over a period of about 7 years. I don't trust them... at all.

Ford products suck. If they didn't make auto's for the working man they would so be out of business. GM is still hurting. The gas prices fluxuating cause everyone to stop putting performance on the lot because it doesn't come in a 4 cylinder. Buy your wife a nissan and don't look back as long as you change the oil you will nearly never have to do anything else to it from my personal experience.
