i have a crack like this on all of my coil packs...but its on the top so would it cause the car to break up when it reaches 4-45k mark?

1jz. single turbo. afc2. 550cc. boost cut

car runs perfect before 4-4300 rpm...then it breaks up and theres no power...just revs and breaks up until you fall back below 4k rpm...

i went and played with the afc for a while..pulled some fuel. car doesnt break up til 5500 rpm..i still dont think its going into boost though....or could it be that slow since its not tuned yet?

How rich is the car running.? What's are the afrs?

I come from a land down under
5000ish is usually peak torque/cylinder pressures and this often results in spark blowout, you can try a smaller plug gap or upgrade to better Coils.

Another "trick" is if you have the overhead in the engine (timing/rattle) and some way to add some timing just before it blows out it will pull through cleanly but keep in mind to keep it out of detonation.

That crack, no, as it's only an "ear" in the casting to allow it to bolt down. You have problems elsewhere.

I'd check plug gap first. Start with the stock gap and if that doesn't work, close the gap a bit.

this was my issue...car was running so rich it didnt have any power...spent most of the day experimenting with the safc2 and learning how to use it..afrs went from 10 across the board to 13.5-14.5 in lo throttle and 10 WOT after 4K rpm.. i think i need a fpr to pull more fuel...im at -4 - -9 on the hi throttle but its not leaning out...not sure how much i can pull with the safc2 before i start having timing issues?

I just tuned a buddy's 1J with this same problem and it took quite abit of fuel to be pulled up to 25% fuel pulled. No issues at all and running 11.4-11.6 afr's WOT now

Aem uego is what we used and its on a mines ecu with more aggressive timing maps then a stock jza70 ecu

thats what i have as well...WOT while looking at guage(by myself)..pull over tune and go again...people in the neighborhood were looking like WTF? for hours at a time...lol

habanero checked out your build..nice!!

Much easier to have some one you trust drive the car and then you tune and easiest to do 3rd gear pulls.

And thank you sir.

Yup. That's where I was going with the afr question.. with 440 I am pull 20to 25 percent wot..
But watch how much boost u run. Oh and you will still prob get fuel cut in 5th gear at about 17psi. Well I do at leats. But. My car eill make 21 in 3rd and 4th.. with no knock showing. But I would not make a habbit of it with out standalone ecu

im up to -16 to-30 and still at 10 across the board from 4k up...the more i pull it feels like the car is getting stronger though..

when will i start having issues with timing?

Just be cautious and careful sir because this is the area where things can go wrong.

So if there's any doubt that you wideband is off or the controller is set up wrong you might want to re think the situation.

If not just slowly keep pulling fuel

i used this setup i saw on club lexus

quote
Safc
Under settings:
1.Hi-thr - 1k to 4k rpm leave it at zero. 5k to 8k rpm put -5 to -8% (you may need to pull a little more but just go slow)
2.Lo-thr - all at zero (i suggest taking out 1-3% in the 1k-2k range),
3.Th-point
Lo = 50% and Hi = 75% (I had mine set at 28% and 29% because i have alot of hills around me so it helps ..ps - I have a auto)
4.Ne-Point
Ne1 = 1000
Ne2 = 2000
Ne3 = 3000
and so on up until Ne8 = 8000
5.Dec - Air
Thr = ****
Ne1 = 10.0%
Ne2 = 10.0%

Under etc.
Sensor type = Pressure
sens no In = 01, Out = 01
Car sel
Cyl = 6, and Thr (arrow up and to the right)
quote

on mine though i set TH point to 20% 40%

and i tried to set sens no but mine wont move off IN= 06 OUT= 06 without the car cutting off

Ne points are going to be unique to where you need tuning also the throttle percentage for the high map i set 74%-75% i would not touch the low map as it will mess with the closed loop the ecu will take car of this.

my lo throttle was real rich..10s..ive got it between 13.4-14.7 afrs....ill try zero it out this weekend and see how it runs like that....ill also try that 74-75% to to see how that works....

Is your AFs at 13.4 to 14.7 at WOT or when it's in closed loop(part/low throttle)?

I've done some playing around with closed loop tuning on an SAFC, but only for cold starts. From dead cold starts the car idles around 10.0s to 11.0s AF, once it warms up and starts cycling my AF bounce 14.3 to 14.7 at idle/part throttle. If you dipping 10s at low throttle, I'd say replace your o2 sensor and it should clean up quite a bit. This is of course with 440cc injectors and a stock ECU.
