would a code affect my timing?

i'm hitting fuel cut so i'm throwing code 34 which is abnormal turbocharger pressure. So today i checked the timing on my car with the diagnostic box jumpered. It was showing 15 degrees advanced.

My question is, do i have to reset my ECU and wipe out code 34 before checking the base timing??

also i was always under the impression that the ECU will RETARD the timing if it senses any problems like boost pressure or knock. Well in my case i have fuel cut issues so if my car reads 15 degrees advanced now did that mean BEFORE i was at more then 15 degrees, assuming that the ECU did retard the timing DOWN to 15....

THANKS!!

Code 34 has no effect on timing. The only effect the 34 has is the temporary bucking you feel, after that the ECU continues to run as normal.

alright so my base timing is at 15 degrees then. Time to pull it back a few degrees i guess.
