Make sure the exhaust studs on the head arent getting stuck on the manifold and make sure the fuel rail doesnt have the fuel lines hooked up if its still bolted onto the head.

I hooked a crowbar on the top bolt that holds the alternator and pulled the head up like that when mine was stuck.

Or it's simply stuck on the guide pins like it always is, and needs to be wiggled.

This has usually been the case for me... Large screwdriver/prybar where others have mentioned.

"Walk" around the head and find anything that looks like it may be fastened on the head & block. Take your time and don't assume anything... physically check to see that it is not binded in some way that makes it difficult to lift the head.

Have some small, flat pieces of wood available. I used shims when I slightly lifted the head at various points to keep from "sitting" back down, until totally loose/free.

Good luck!

didn't think to put marks on the belt and all the pulleys? also did you put everything back together the same way, not leaving anything unplugged or anything? i recently did a hg on my car (well put it back together cause my mechanic was "busy" -.- but it was a good learning experience) but i didn't have any problems after i put it all back together. just make sure you check your timing too....is should be around 12+ for the gte....(or so i was told by a my friend that owned the car before me and blew the hg)

The starter won't turn the motor over?
Or it won't fire?

Did you verify your timing marks and turn the motor over sa couple revs by hand and check them again?

Also are your ECU grounds connected below the intake manifold?

i had to replace the hg, when i took the head off there was a puddle of radiator fluid in the first cylinder. and i put everything back together the best i can for a noob and went to start the car and it made the clicking noise like no fuel was getting into the engine so i stopped and tryed again and turned key again and the engine didnt want to fire.

That's why I asked if you verified all your timing marks. #1 piston at TDC, rotor pointing at #1 wire, marks on cam gears lined up and crank mark on the "0".

All the marks on and it will start if everything else is hooked up right.

Then you can set it with a timing light.

What kept the head from coming off?

Did you remove the cps?

Did you remove the efi fuse? And if so did you put it back?

Is everthing tdc?
