turns out I didn't have a bad injector, the black smoke wasn't all the black, but more of a white color... say like burning coolant. I didn't have but a little in my oil.... just enough to make a milkshake looking stuff in the cap. It is now off the road until my next day off....when I can install my OTHER metal headgasket that is on the shelf in my shop

here was the setup I had.... cometic MHG, machine work on head, lapped block when engine was rebuilt. 10000 miles, ARP studs torqued to 85 ft lbs....

guess something was wrong....I didn't use any brake quiet

It may have detonated.....but I never HEARD it.....I looked back through the datalogging on the SAFC, and the knock sensors never showed it...

not sure on that..... it is blown oil passage to coolant passage and coolant passage to cylinder..... I'm getting LOTS of blowby, bubbles in the radiator, and water in the cylinder

Sorry to hear about that, esp. after you were just talking about beating a viper. if you need a new gasket, I have a 84mm 1.2 cometic head gasket. I used it to torque my motor down, and then had to remove it because I had to heli coil some turbo mani bolts. it has no miles on it, it was just torqued. If you need it let me know as I am just getting a new one because I am the anal type and I want it to be perfect the first time.

This just goes to show that even when you do everything perfectly, regarding prepping the block, it may still blow. I can't believe it either, but this happens and we look forward to having your car back and running man. Oh, and pics of the teardown is always fun.:icon_razz

I don't believe this was due to normal cirumstance..... so don't get worried...

I had just pulled the motor by the factory hooks with trans still attached and fluids in engine and trans...(I have an extra yoke) so that may have been a factor.... It could have detonated, or I simply could have done something wrong....

There is NO Reason to get worried...

all I'm saying is that these people that just did mhg shouldn't be getting worried because I blew mine.....it may have been a defective gasket, or a world of other things...

Ahhh got ya!

Nope I wouldn't be worried till you've done a post mortem and see if you can pinpoint the cause.

Could easily have been detonating just enough that you missed hearing it but enough over time to have hurt it.
