Today i took out the starter and boy is that a u know what to get out.anyway i took it out because when i try to turn her on she acts like the battery is dead.but when i turn the key just to the point where the lights light up and the volt meter just come on the volts read 12 or 13.but when i try to start the engine the volts go all the way down and makes a little cliking noise.so i turn the key back and the volts read 12.i took the starter to advance auto and they tested the starter and they said it is fine.Know i'm thinking that it could be a bad connection or maybe the altinator.the radio comes on,all the lights work fine, just when i'm trying to start her is when she acts like the battery is dead.:1zhelp::1zhelp::1zhelp:

The best thing to do is run a voltage drop test to the starter on the big wire. You should only lose a tenth or two of volts at the big wire. That is after you load test your dead battery.

The starter signal wire may also be bad. It's a very common problem. First make sure the battery is good. If it is, try jump starting the car. If the car cranks then it's most likely the signal wire. Mine is bad so I'm using an automotive relay to kinda bypass it.

I stick here in the na section pretty much..
I dig turbos but, eh.

I like n/a power, more I think. If for no other reason it's easier to work on by myself.

Other than that I just haven't been trying to rock the boat, much.

Ive had this problem as well.

I get the click on the passenger side, drop in volts and nothing else. If I turn the key a few times or sometimes just hold the key it will crank no problem. With jumper cables on it does the same thing.

I been thinking its the starter contact patch problem. Havent bothered to really do anything with it, it always starts eventually.

check all fuses and fusible links.

if the voltage drop thing doesn't work maybe just try another battery? or properly jump-start your car? then you will know if its your batt.

Have you checked your grounds?

I forgot to add that i also tried to jump start the car and it still made that clicking noise and the voltage went down only when i tried to start the engine.but when i put the key to on"not start the engine" the volt read 12 volts.i'll take the altinator to get tested and the batery as well to see where i stand.thanks for the info:icon_bigg

First, it isn't a very common problem. You wouldn't know if it is or isn't ,as you don't do this for a living. If you did, you wouldn't have said something so boneheaded in the latter part.

If you can jump start the car, you have a discharged battery. Being discharged is not an indicator if it is bad or not. The signal wire is switched power, it has nothing to do with battery condition. Jumping the battery is the same as a good battery. If it jump starts, you don't have a signal wire problem.

It sounds like the starter selonoid died.

I just replaced my starter because my selonoid went out. When i put in the new starter I couldn't get it to turn over. It didn't even click like before. I thought perhaps my factory alarm was possibly part of the problem (have had issues in the past), so I removed it as well ( following shaeff's writeup ). I still had the same symptoms. I checked the plugs on the starter again and the one coming from the ignition switch seemed very loose. I ran a wire from the battery to it and she started right up. I reformed the female connector and plugged it back on the starter which solved my issue.

Ive checked all the grounds and cleaned them. Its weird it will Click-Click-Start. The number of times its clicks is random, sometimes it will start first time others a bunch of clicks. Also, by clicking its not the motor cranking or anything mechanical. Its coming from the passenger side around the ECU, not sure What it is though lol.

Its not the battery causing the problem, as it does the exact same thing while being jump started. Ive also had the battery slowed charged over night at a shop and tested(came back fine) and it did the same thing.

Its gotta be a ground I missed somewhere or the contact patches or something electrical lol.

~edit, fuses are all fine in all the fuse blocks, fusable links from what Ive seen are fine, havent checked them 100%.
