Same problem with stock, authentic greddy type rs, and now knock off hks. My turbo isnt cracked... I can hear the turbo spooling and its still at 0 psi when it should be like 3-5. Im going to check my block off plates and reseal them but i doubt that is the problem.

For those interested, took the car to a trusted shop to perform a smoke/boost leak test and i have zero leaks. Now i am only boosting 5 lbs without any shims on the wastegate.

have you checked your exhaust part of the turbo? maybe the seals bad an you have an exhaust leak
when it does boost does it spool slow?

I don't feel like going back through the thread so someone may have mentioned this, but are you sure your boost guage is working properly?

yeah I agree and even though you "hear" the turbo doesn't necessarily mean it's building pressure
I start hearing mine at like -5 psi..

Yes my boost gauge is working properly at idle im at -21hg vacuum and when i boost both my aftermarket and stock dash boost gauge read the same. Btw i was at 7 lbs with 2 washers on each bolt, i took them off And im now at only 5.... plus the car is extra slow i think hondas beat me at this point. without wastegate connected the turbo spools extremely fast and hard 15+ so im just so confused.

that's becuase without the wastegate it has no way to stop so it spools extremely fast and over boosts
at based off of what you said and since it boosts only 7 shimmed and 5 not I would assume your wastegate is bad
I'd recomend not driving with the wastegate disconnected or you'll over boost and blow the turbo

The problem is why would my actuator go bad all of a sudden after a transmission swap? And ontop of that ive tried 2 different actuators and im having. The same problem with both

another thing
maybe even though you tried changing the actuator you may possibly have a bad spring in the wastegate? try seeing if someone has a ct26 and use their wastegate and tryit on yours to cancel out that it's the wastegate

With the boost controller it will spike to 15 and hold at around 9-10 which is what. Whats weird is ive tried to adjust the boost but even if i put the mbc at ots lowest setting, the car will boost around 10-12 but once i shift the wastegate stays completely open and i cant build any boost in the next gear. But if i start at like mid setting on the controller itll be at like 15 and it still will only hold 9-10

ok well you said the wastegate gets stuck open which is a problem
so with a bc it helps you boost and get closer to where you want but based on that you said it get stuck open you either have a bad wastegate itself or spring or something changing the actuator won't really tell you I would suggest trying another wastegate

It may not be the Turbo..

I understand it appears when you swap gearboxes.
Did you check your timing? I think the ECU pull timing when shifting speed on an A/T.. Depending on your wiring, 7MGTE ECU may constantly thinks box is shifting..

how would that make any sense if he said when he puts the bc controller on he hits more boost at 9-10 psi?

It makes little sense I know ;) and I may misunderstood the ECT and TCCS work.

But isn't timing change the balance point between combustion chamber temp and exhaust gaz temp ?

Holds 5 but it wont go past 5. boost controller spikes to 15+ as if it were running no wastegate but it holds more than 5. holds around 8-12.

And my timing is fine has not been messed with.

My car idles beautifully at 650-700. Im thinking a pre-turbo exhaust leak? except i dont hear anything...
