Yeah WiX is actually a really good oil filter.....now that you put a fram on it though......you can safely drive the car to the junk yard and park it there.

It seems as if you replaced the Wix filter(which was a larger S3600 series,) with the stock size filter. Both of which have the same mounting fitment, although the S3600 series has a longer body.

Because the filter was Wix didn't make the filter larger, unless you were talking about filament.

Can anyone share the WIX part number that fits our car? A number that those that use autozone, or partsamerica.com etc could use to order online?

Thanks

Wix 51515 is size-equivalent to a PH8 or Purolator 30001. Any Napa store will have the equivalent to the Wix under Napa Gold 1515.

It fits perfectly on a GE, but there may be interference on a stock GTE due to the goofy bracket.

Let your car sit overnight, then swap that Fram POS out for either the 30001 or 51515. Top off the oil after starting and your engine will thank you for it. You can swap a filter without draining the pan in about 2 minutes.

in canada, you can get the wix filter through amsoil. Or just go buy the equivalent napa gold filter (same thing).

Wix part # 51348 for a GTE 51068 for a GE
NAPA Gold # 1348 or 1068

Wix filters are not available through any Autozone. The 'best' normal filter they carry is a Fram. After that you have to buy the much more expensive K&N or Mobile One. Neither of which really outperform the Wix for the money charged for them.

I used a WIX filter and that piece of shit burst under pressure also. That thing has nothing on Moblie one or K&N. You want cheap go ahead and buy cheap, but don't spread bullshit untruths about how they are apples to apples and for the price you should get the WIX. Filtering it may be ok but you want something that will not fall apart either. I was lucky that I was not drivng on the highway when this happen but was local. regardless its a bitch to have o hunt don real oil fiters like K&N or Mobile one. Again the best filter I have used in contruction was the K&N, and next the Mobile one. I will buy K&N first then Moblie one or nothing at all. Oh yeah I have yet to get the Moroso reccomended by IJ.

you've never read the link posted by jdub then... and if your blasting apart oil filters, i would be more concerned with why it happened in the first place.
