Wiseco Vs. CP Pistons

Just wondering out of these two piston companies, Wiseco and CP what pistons do you like better. Is there really a difference between the two besides name and price. In the next week I'm going to buy a set of pistons but cant decided.

Weights, skirt length, dome, things like this are what you need to pay attention to when deciding on what you want. Check out each manufacture's website for the details on their pistons, then make your comparisons. You would typically want a light weight piston with shorter skirts for racing, and a heavier one with longer skirts for daily driving, longetivity, and be able to withstand a tune gone bad.

Wiseco's are great because most of the time they come with rings as well.

Yes I like the included rings parts.
Comes out to about the same price as new stock parts..
Running Wiseco's right now.

If you haven't already found out.. I believe you will only find the CP's in .40 and the Wiseco's have a 9:1 compression. If your not concerned about either then it's a toss up. Suprarich in the vendor section has pretty good pricing on the JE's. I bought a set and sent them to Swaintech for coatings. The coatings were about $220 or so for the crown and skirt.

Thicker HG will take care of the wiseco compression if you want to lower it.

CP is a little bit higher quality piston then the Wiseco, but it costs more. They are both good pistons though.

True dat. This guys in miami who builts high budget race engines and believes in CP pistons. He told me that CP was created by an Ex JE employe who went his seperate way, thing is, he was the brain behind JE pistons. Dont know how accurate that is though

personally i like the higher compression wiseco pistons for that reason as well as they come with the sideskirts coated already.

Just off hand what is the stock Compression for the 7MGTE, cant remember?

I think cp is same as stock.

Yup ^^^^ CP's are stock compression but will have to be made to order for any size under .40..

The fact that the Wisecos are only .160" under the dome, scares me.

I think the Wisecos would have a lower tolerance of detonation - but still stronger than stock, so don't think the Wisecos are weak, by any means!

I, personally, would go with the CP vs the Wisecos.

What do you guys think of Ross Pistons. I think im just going to spend the little extra and get them.

There are a few reasons why I chose Wiseco over Ross and one of the main things was the fact of the wiseco's having a longer skirt then the ross and I didnt want loud piston slap.
Although u can hear piston slap with wiseco's faintly, its not nearly as bad as Ross and JE's

Piston slap has more to do with proper wall clearance than skirt length...

Ross pistons, imho, are unnecessarily HEAVY.

this is true but skirt length does contribute to it.
