Okay guys i need some serious help on these i bought a 91 turbo supra about a year ago and decide to go with a full restotoration on it, first somebody decide to hack the shit of the wiring harness so i bought a new one from jeff @ champion toyota not knowing that this car was an automatic orginally, so the harness that i got from jeff was for a 5 speed, my question will this new 5 speed harness work on an auto set up that the car came with?

Ouch! 5-speed will not work for an auto. If you had an auto and needed it to work for a 5-speed, you could make that work. If it is too late to return it to Jeff, you should be able to get at least most of your money back.

OOPS.....while typing it hit me. If you were unaware the car had been auto, was it running as a 5-speed when you got it, or before?????? Since you are using a 5-speed and a 5-speed ECU, this might work for you. Maybe someone else will chime in if there is any other problem. I will leave the info above for future searches on the subject.

So if you replaced the harness with a matching one, you should have no problems.

yeah I know but the one that i pulled out of the car was an auto harness and it ran fine, but the one i got from jeff is 5 speed harness.

Then that wouldn't exactly be a matching one. I have no knowledge what so ever on this, but I bet you would be OK with it. If they are both out of the car, I would compare the two, with special attention to every connection that goes under the dash. I made sure every connection on mine was the same for the entire motor. And since the motor was out of the car, I brought the ECU to it. Once I got it all installed, I found out that I never checked all of the inside connections, because one didn't match. Without it, the car did nothing.

Once you have verified those, check all connections used by your motor. There will most likely be some connections on both harnesses that aren't used. I wouldn't be concerned with those.

One of my supras is an auto, but it runs fine with the M/T wiring harness and M/T ECU I put in it last week.
