im doing a 1jz swap in a 240sx and the harness i bought is weird. The guy i bought it from claims that its a full plug and play harness but im looking at it and there are plugs missing. The plug that goes into the starter is missing, a plug on the trans harness is missing and i think i may have either the oil pressure sensor or one of the knock sensors missing. i still have my original harness so whatevr is missing is gonna come off that.

So question is Would i be able to run my own seperate wire onto that starter plug from a 12v relay or my battery??

???

Take the harness and use it to beat the seller....then take his wallet. I'm really sick and tired of shady bs sellers. Is it really that difficult to be honest upfront and straight forward? Hope it works out for you man.

Yeah you can run your own starter wire.

If you look at the plugs missing you're ok though, those are easy to replace.

i figured that much. if im missing one of the knock sensor then i should still be able to drive it. I need to get now a new o2 sensor thats 4 pin, a brand new nissan water temp sensor since my car may read the toyota sensor wrong.

Where should i run the starter plug from. Battery or Relay????

how bad would it be to loose those functions

I'm assuming its MT so the Clutch switch wouldnt be an issue as long as you always had it in neutral or pressed the clutch to start, or wise it will lunge and may hit something. You loose the cold start injector on the other hand and it could be a real bitch to start when its cold. The wiring diagram i attached to my last post is pretty simple, Get yourself a multimeter, and you shouldnt have too much of an issue finding/fixing the problem.

I'm pretty sure that if the knock sensor isnt hooked up it goes into a "safe mode" where it just acts like it has knock...it will run...but shitty. Definitely something you want to fix.

Who did you buy it from?

i bought it from a guy in South Florida. I dont know his name on supramania but hes on supraforums. His name there is Boostage. The guy who made the harness is supposedly the best in Sotuh Florida. He showed me a vid of him starting the car with the harness in.

yea the car use to lunge forward if i didnt press the clutch down with the old ka24de. i may just send it to tweak if i cant figure it out since i suck when it comes down to wiring lol. If i loose the cold start injector it would suck since winter is almost here!!!!!!

Testing wires is relatively simple. You just look at the wiring diagram and it will show you where wires go. use continuity test, tells you when 2 leads on multimeter are connected. Touch both ends of the wire with the leads, if you have continuity, your good, if you dont you have an open. Then move one of the leads to ground. Now you should not have continuity, if you do you have a short. If you have an open or short, just replace that wire. If the wires missing replace it. Pretty straight forward.

However I would still be pissed if I paid for that harness. Get your money back if you can and buy a harness that wasnt touched inapropriately as a child. If you can try and fix it yourself, or with the help of someone you know, I wouldnt trust a guy that sold you a harness like that to fix it.

yea tru if i dont get my car running by the end of this week then im just gonna take my money back because this is a pain in the ass. i still have an uncut jz harness so ill just send that to tweak if anything

Just keep the factory harness with both the 1JZ & 240 body side and build a jumper harness to go between the two all you have to do from tere is make sure the ECU ends up in a safe / dry location.

The jumper harness would have the the KA efi body plugs soldered to the 1Z body connectors so the two cous just plug in together.

Get your engine setup right
Chaser + OEM uncut Harness & ECU (any 1JZ as long as the harness matches the ECU)

Simply building a jumper harness will allow you to supply power to your ECU ignitor injectors etc. then allow your gauges to read the sensors.

There is Chaser schematics out there I think I even posted an excell type spread sheet on the soarer into supra page all you would need to do is chart the 240/KA connector & mate them up to corasponding signals.

A swap shop should be able to do it a shop with experiance that has built them before. I know a handfull of people in my area so I am sure you could find someone i your area.

Sounds like a good plan!

I wouldnt charge you no more then like $50-60 to solder together a little jumper harness to go between the 1JZ harness to your 240.
Im in the business of helping community guys out not taken advantage of anyone here.
Sorry I could not be of service to you though I have lot on my plate.
I just swapped a soarer 1JZ into my brothers SC400 and I am putting the 1UZ that was in his car into my 1998 4runner which never came with the V8 those years

& I have my baby girl on her way into the world by the end of JAN

There is a local guy in my area I almost went to work for him his name is Sam & he works for C-Tunes in walnut CA. He specializes a lot in 240s there is even another company called proto motorsports with in 20 min of where I live.

They can be of great help and give you great information on this subject.

I turned down the job with C-tunes because I was looking for a job with excelent retirement & healthcare benifits for my familey.
The Railroad works perfect for that & I get to reprogram and modify / repair locomotives I do a lot of computer work on them and enjoy my job.

If I didnt have a familey I would have loved that job.

yea man i hear you.. well i just got off the phone with the guy who gave me this harness and ill qoute everything he said. Basically the yellow plug came off a 7m but only one of those wires are important. The one wire in there needs to get ignition to be able to start the car. As for the starter solenoid. I may just cut the solenoid off my chaser harness and run it off battery power. Also this harness doesnt seem like it has an oil pressure sensor solenoid as well but thats just what ever for right now. As long as i have this car running im happy lol
