Winter Madness

This weekend, a couple of local rod clubs, and a heap of other talented individuals, got together with the aim of building a hot rod over the course of a weekend...

Starting Saturday morning with a body in pretty much bare metal, a chassis that was still box steel sitting on the rack and a motor with no clutch or box, at around 7pm Sunday night the car "Las Drogas" rolled out the doors of the workshop at Ferret Boilermaking...

I'm still sorting through the many many photos I took over the weekend... A couple of national magazines were on hand and the event was also recorded on video for a DVD to be produced...

This is Ben aka Flathead, the owner of Ferret Boilermaking and the man behind the project, now the proud owner of Las Drogas...

Frank and Doug kept everyone fed all weekend...

And that was about when the tools went down and the fire got cranked up.... (Tho a few of the panel n paint crew decided to do a bit more prep work on the rest of the body)

Sunday morning and it was time for the engine to meet the chassis...



Meanwhile, Doc was blowing on some colour...

As soon as the paint was dry enough to work on the body again, it was time to fit the glass and fit and wire the dash...

Of course, it's not really a Crankster car without the club sticker and plaque....

Almost there now... time to drop the body onto the chassis...

And driving the tudor out into the yard under it's own power...

And to finish it off, a couple of group shots... This is not all the guys who worked on the car over the weekend, but it is most of them....
