Hi, the wipers on my supra are horribly sluggish. I was wondering if anyone had a similar experience with this.

I put them on the other dar (accidentally, working around the stalk and clicked it down, turned ignition to ON and it came on). The windshield wasdry and it went up and down really slow. I sprayed them with ww fluid and they sped up a bit.

A few minutes after I tried it dry again (again by accident) and it went up quarter and stopped (even on hi setting, I tested the last time on all settings as well as high. So I took it off, sprayed, put it back on hi and it still went really slow.

The blades don't move smoothly either, the come down choppy. I was going to change the motor, but then realized it could be the wiring or the blades themselves because of how they slide.

The blades on there are new, and I was wondering if anyone had a similar problem, it's a lot easier to buy and change blades than changing the motor, and if I have to change them anyways then I rather not change the motor.

I'm thinking it's the motor because even if the blades were causing a lot of friction, the motor should be able to force it up and bring it back down still.

Anyways, I was just wondering what your experiences were with this sort of thing, I have a spare wiper motor on hand so once I'm more certain of the cause I'll get out there and fix her.

I think I have a similar situation, although I've noticed if I position the stalk so it's balanced in between each speed setting it'll work fine. I haven't looked into it yet though.

Thanks Jeff, I'll check it out.

The Dude, I'll see if mine reacts the same way and go from there as well and then we can figure it out together. Two heads are better than one ;)

had a similiar problem on my old celica and I took all the linkage a part, cleaned, greased and reassembled and they were tons better. However, after running them that way for so long, I ended up replacing the motor anyway and that helped a little bit more.

Thanks Weez, I think I'll work with the linkage first. The motor I have is a used motor, but works fine. So once this one works good after the linkage is inspected I'll leave the motor in there, they would both probably operate at the same speed.

Dont forget to clean and lube the part that goes through the cowl, that the wiper arm attaches too. Once you take the linkage off you can see if it turns smoothly.
