hey wiisass...don't suppose you have any extra windshield trim do you??? My top piece broke off....if you do I could come pick it up cause I'm fairly close to your location.

Problem is I don't want to have to pay these people twice to come out....I will need atleast a day to strip the rust and let the primer and paint sit. I really don't know how I'm gonna go about this LOL and I don't have an extra hand to help if I was gonna give it a shot

I used to be a warehouse supervisor of a Major Auto Glass Wholesaler. For 5 years I delivered glass into almost every glass shop in a 4 state area. I saw a lot of glass work done, but never had any work experience doing the labor myself. I have also parted several Supras (10+), and have attempted to remove 3 good windshields with tools that I had from my working days in the business. I have never been able to successfully get one out. Your success will depend on how long the W/S has been in the car, or if it has been replaced, what type installation was done. Shortcuts are common, but if instructions are followed strictly on the urethane used, you will have a rough time.

Here's the best advise I could give you, and I give it to everybody that ever asks. Call both Safelite and Diamond/Triumph and get quotes. Call the furthest one from you first, and then tell the other one what your quote was from them. They will almost always beat it.

Then, after you have your price, you can request original equipment glass. Your Original glass should be stamped with LOF, L-N, Libbey Nippon. Your replacement glass will probably be branded Pilkington/LOF, or Pilkington with any of those other markings. I assumed that you would be replacing the glass as it will be not much more expensive than the labor only job.

get naked & boost a supra
I've read most of the posts and i agree with the ones who say to call safelite.
i have tried to pull the windshield on my spare supra with no luck.

Last month i had safelite replace the windshield on my tacoma and i asked for a military discount. The didn't have one but, he told me that they are encouraged to discount as much as possible and he knocked of 100.00 dollars. When it was time to pay the guy who did the work, he knocked off another 60.00 dollars. POINT OF STORY.
CALL SAFELITE AND TRY TO WORK ON THE PRICE, THEY WILL KNOCK OFF SOME GREEN.

your car is rusted because somebody in the past did a bad windsheild replacment.you can't just put a corking gun in anybody's hand and expect them to be good the first time.laying a bead of urethane take's practice,so you don't end up with void's.your windsheild leak's now,it will probably leak worst after your done.
the most common tool used in auto glass removal is called a "cold knife".if i was going to save your windsheild,i would use an extractor though.think saw's all with a putty knife on the end of it,i could carve a turkey with that bitch.

Equalizer!

I wanted to make that same point, but was afraid I wouldn't do it properly. Man, that truck is eerie........my boss's name was Phillips back in the ole glass days.
