Hey guys! I was wondering if the stock O2 sensor will come apart using basic garage tools. Vise, vise-grips, hammer, pliers, etc...

What I need is just the flange. What I'm trying to do is remove the stock O2 sensor from the flange so I can use the Bosch Type O2's that mount using just a nut. Am I explaining that clear enough...? :icon_bigg

Thanks...

Yep, that's what I'm trying to avoid. I have an old O2 sensor that's trashed and was wanting to try and remove the sensor and make the flange work with the 'threaded' style sensor.

The one in my car now is bad and I have a brand new 'threaded' type on the bench. It may be more trouble than it's worth though. I could buy an OEM style replacement; but, thought since I had the other style already, I'd try to make it work.

Hey Grim!

No, none of my bad ones are threaded. Oh, I'm sure I can get it apart; but, was hoping to salvage the plate. :)

I was hoping someone may have done this already so they could show me the way to the dark side...

"Very cheap you are" (said in my yoda voice) :D

I've done something similar before, instead of making a new block-off plate i just knocked the 02 out it then welded the hole in and grinded it smooth Because I've got a bung for my wideband and a bung for a standard threaded o2.

A cheap adapter plate of sorts would be an easy fix. If it comes to you, let me know...

Thanks jetjock!

And everyone else too... :)

Thanks for the link Poodles! The boneyard idea is good too; but, right now they're under about 6" of snow!

Yeah, for 7 bucks...I'll just buy one. Like jetjock said, they're cheap enough! :)

You do know that they do make a Adapter that you can just weld to the piping and bolt your Existing O2 sensor too. I bought these a while back and I never used them. I have 2 of them I think out in the Garage, If your welding Skills are good enough, you can use them with the Stock O2 or the Bosch syle o2 as they have the treads to use it.

Let me know if you need Pics.

My welding skills are non-existant. I plan on learning! But, until then I'm stuck with nuts and bolts. ;) Thanks though!

NAPA sells a threaded flange that'll work just fine. It looks like the one in the pic above, but IIRC it's thicker. I have one somewhere, but who the crap knows where. LOL.
