Im building my 7mgte and last night I put on the head. I have ARP studs and a Cometic head gasket. Both the block and the head surfaces were extremely clean while I put them together. My concern is that some residual oil from the Cam shaft valleys in the head went though one of the oil passage holes and got in between the head gasket and the cyclinder head. Do you think this will still form a seal? I torqued all the studs using the factory torque sequance to 85ft-lb,over the coruse of three steps

If you did not get the head and block decked the the RA spec for a Cometic MHG...good luck. 50/50 at best.

Decked Schmecked! If the RA spec is not low enough, it will be a miracle if it seals. On the other hand, if you do remove the head, and the Viton on the gasket is at all damaged, then you will have to clean it ALL off the gasket, and spray the gasket with Permatex Copper. After doing that, the gasket will be able to seal with a somewhat rougher surface.
