Will I be able to tint these tail lights?

my 89+ tail lights got some paint stripper damage on them but I sanded it to be really smooth, but you can still see where the paint stripper did the damage. Will the white parts show when I tint them?

Yeah I think you will still be able to see it = / Try and find a new light. It isn't to much when it is a single piece and not a set.

you can try to sand that mess off and see if that works but as it is now i dont think it will work.

just sand it with some really fine grit sandpaper it will probably come off.. buff it clean and coat it.. will be fine..

^^^Yeah. just sand 'em down. Leaving them like that it'll most likely show when they're lit.

i say sand it with 800 then 1200 grit
then tint it.

These guys are right. You just have to be more aggressive with the sanding. You should also be wet sanding these. The clear/tint coat will hide I do this to blend plexi and acrylic.

That actually might work. I was sanding my corners to take off the letters and it was all scratched with light scraches. Clear coat hid all of it.

It's worth a shot. Try it out on one lens, and then shine light through it to see how it looks. Meguiar's makes a plastic polish as well, perhaps good for final prep.

well I wet sanded it with 800 and 1000 grit today, a lot of the white crap came off

and I'm guessing this is what it'll look like after the clear coat of paint

you can still see some of the damage, so I'll get back to it tomorrow with sanding.

There you go. When you think you're done keep in mind that when they dry a small amount of the damage may show back up. Water's good at hiding damage.
