86.5-88 had different engine mounts, and 89-92 also had different mounts just use ur old mounts on the new engine.

thats the most retarded thing i heard today.... selling the motor to get the exact same thing again? If he sells it why not go 1JZ

I have a 89+ block in my pre 87 with pre 87 harness & ecu. Selling it to get another 7M is plain & i quote poodles "STUPID".

He said he wants one that will just drop in, I started laughing and told the guy but he doesn't understand I guess. I'm also wondering if he knows how to drive lol

Unfortunately no engine will just drop in; there's a couple wires and hoses you have to hook up, might as well sell the car in that case! Seriously though if you have the ecu/harness to match the year of the car, and the engine mounts to match the year of the car its a direct fit, you can't get much easier than that.

Yep everyone is talking about the mounts and no one mentioned brackets till now. Tell him to mount the brackets and mounts to the block then try and drop it in. my bro in law tried mounting the mounts to the crossmember and tried dropping the engine with the brackets on top of them. he tried that for a hr then wise up. I think your friend needs a supra intervention. I say we all go over and take his supra away. what if he is trying to drop a 2jzgte in ,and the twins are hitting the for wall.......lol. it could happen.......

Mounts go on the engine, not the crossmember (that's why the holes are slotted on the crossmember, so you can drop it in)

lol I did that as well... The engine pulled out of the mounts just fine but I fought with it for a good 30 mins trying to get it in before my friend told me I could just loosen them from the bottom of the subframe....feelsbadman

One of the other local supra owners cross member was damaged somehow & he took out the one from his parts car & installed that one & the brackets lined up & everything.
