Will a OBD2 scanner work on my MK3? Most of them say 96 or newer. and mine is a 91. If not what kind should I look for? I would like the laptop kind right now, then will get an more expensive one later on.

just get some wire or a paper clip and jump the diagnostic ports under the hood. very quick, very easy, just as good

OBDI's are great in the aspect that you don't have to drop $100.00 on a scanner to see WTF's wrong with the car. Gotta love the free paperclip you see laying around ;).

Yeah I did that trick, its nice, and works on tranny ECU too! I just wanted something I can tune my car with. I guess I need better electronics for that anyways.

Wait you want something to tune your car with? A diagnostic reader is not going to do it, its not like those diesel things. To tune your car your going to need a piggyback or standalone.

i got tired of bustin out the paper clip, and losing them, so i just splice some wire into the ecu harness, and wired into a switch witch i hid in the coin holder. now all i have to do is flip a switch. :naughty:

Hmmmm thats an idea..lol I have been thinking about getting an E-manage blue. I can tune with that right? Does it come with software and hookups to tune with after the system is installed?
