To be more specific...

Will a 92 NA 5-speed engine harness and ECU work in an 87 NA 5-speed??

What issues may there be if any. Please let me know what you folks think.

Thanks

My memory says no, somethings are different on the body plugs for the harness wiring, but I am not sure. Let someone else post. I have an 88 harness and ECU that I don't need however.

I have an 87 NA 5-speed and I am looking for a really good condition engine harness.

I few people have repsonded that they have and 88, 89, 92 na 5-speed harness.

My question is will any year from 88 to 92 work with what I have??

There are a few plugs that are different. Cold start injector plug comes to mind. There might be missing sensors on the thermostat housing for extra electric fans - I've seen cars with no electric fans, ones with one, and two. I've never found a correlation to year on that.

Not sure about the under dash plugs, either.

It can be done.

To use a 92 7mge harness on a 87 7mge, you will need to address the following issues:

- 92 will have 310cc (green) injectors
- 92 harness will have slightly different (oval) connectors for the water temp and csi sensors
- 92 harness does not use resistor pack
- 92 dash plugs will be different for the M1 and B1 connectors, not to mention ABS

So it would be a PITA, but can certainly be done if you can find someone with experience. A good 87 harness is HARD to find so if you can't find one you might have to go this route.
