I was inspired to make this thread after reading one on rim size. What is the widest rim tire combo you can use on the supra? What size rims and tires are you guys using?

theres a few threads already usally a 10 - 10.5 wide wheel with a 285-295. some have gotten a 315 to fit but the car wasn't lowered

im running 275s out back on a 9.5 w/o issue. i plan on going a touch wider later on. 315s will fit but you might need to roll your fenders and be very careful about the offset

Yup I believe it was MDC (forget who owns the car now) that had 315's in the back with some fender work. They're like steamrollers.

MkiV's are 9.5" i'm pretty sure, I have 275's on mine but i have seen 295's on them and heard of 315's.

Are you using spacers? do your tires rub? Do you have clearance for wider tires or will you need to run spacers to go wider?

^^Depends on wheel offset and if your lowered of stock height.

ok let me rephase his question,

what is the biggest tire you can put on without rolling the fenders?
AKA what rim offset to fit the biggest tire. 17" 18"?

Some one needs to find the largest rim with the largest possible tire and then make a chart with rim/tire sizes and offsets that fit. Then it needs to be stickied to end all these threads.

Yes that is a great idea.

The problem with a chart, is tire manufacturers vary in sizes even though the are stated the same width. Similiar to shoe sizes from different manufacturers. A size 10 shoe will have a slightly different width or length compared to another manufacturer.

FYI, i have run a 18x9.5 (+33) with a 275/35 on the front and it slightly rubbed on the outside of the fender. Any higher offset caused the inside of the lip to scrape the backside of the lower control arm on hard turns.
On the rears ive gone with a 19x10.5 (+43) with a 285/30 on stock body with slight rubbing on the inside of my coilover shock body going up steep driveways in an angle. A 3mm pretty much eliminated that problem. Im currently running a 10.5 w/285 on a +35 and that required me to roll the fenders.

Im running an 18x9.5 (+35) in the rear with a Nitto 275/40. My car is lowered with Bilstein/Ebiachs and I had rubbing on the outside of the tire over any slight bump. A minor fender roll did the trick. However the tires are close to the suspension on the inside.

17x10 rear, +40mm offset, 285/40's ... just rubbed the outside with the suspension dropped low - as it sits in the pic, no rubbage.
(17x9 front, +41mm offset, 255/40's ... no issues.)

Kyle's current car (Jon/MDC)'s old car...is what had the 315's on the back.
The car is lowered, rims are 17" and the fenders were rolled a little bit to prevent any rubbing.

As you can see here, just how sexy 315's look from the back compared to, what, 225's? :biglaugh:
